Banff Sunshine, Alberta, enters the heart of its spring events this weekend with one of its busiest two-day stretches of the year, combining adaptive skiing, live country music, and a community snowboard jam against a backdrop of exceptional late-season conditions.
The resort’s snow report as of April 8 shows a 106-inch base depth with all 12 lifts operating and all 135 trails open. Freeze-thaw conditions are forecast for the weekend, with temperatures reaching a high of 4°C and dropping to -4°C overnight, the classic spring setup that delivers firm morning groomers softening into forgiving afternoon snow across the mountain’s 3,358 acres.
Banff Sunshine Spring Events 2026 Start This Weekend
Saturday, April 11, opens with the 9th Annual ShredAbility fundraising event, presented by Rocky Mountain Adaptive. The all-mountain scavenger hunt invites skiers and snowboarders of any ability level to form teams of two to four, tackle slope-side challenges, solve clues, and raise money through personalized fundraising pages shared with their networks.
Registration runs from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Sunshine Village Base, with the scavenger hunt, including adaptive challenges, underway from 9:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Lunch follows from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with prize giving and results from 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Prizes are awarded for fastest time, slowest time, and best costume, with the top fundraising team taking home a three-day CMH Heli-Hike Trip for two.
Tim Hus Takes the Stage at Mad Trapper’s Grill
Canadian country artist Tim Hus performs live at Mad Trapper’s Grill on both Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12. A valid ski pass or gondola sightseeing ticket is required for entry. Hus brings a roots-country sound that fits the relaxed, après-forward atmosphere of Sunshine’s mid-mountain village, a setting where skiers can step directly from the slopes onto terraces overlooking the Continental Divide, and the social atmosphere of spring feels markedly different from the midwinter experience.

What the Huck Closes Out the Weekend
Sunday caps the weekend with What the Huck, a snowboard event designed around accessibility and community rather than high-consequence tricks. Features are smaller and low-impact, making it approachable for riders across the skill spectrum. On-site check-in begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Sunshine Day Lodge, with the jam format, featuring age categories for groms, adults, and masters, getting underway at 10:00 a.m., subject to weather conditions.
This event has sold out in each of the past several seasons, so prospective participants are urged to register immediately. Helmets are mandatory for all participants, and everyone must complete a Banff Sunshine event waiver at registration. Participants under 18 require a parent or guardian to sign on their behalf. All proceeds benefit the Jamie Blain Memorial Foundation, also known as Snowboarding Saves, a not-for-profit organization focused on mental health and wellness within the snowboard community.
Banff Sunshine Spring Events: A Season That Still Has Weeks Left
The resort is running spring passes offering 72 days of unlimited skiing and riding, wide open until Slush Cup Monday, May 18, giving anyone who hasn’t yet made it to the mountain more than five weeks of runway. Strong snow conditions, including almost two feet of recent snowfall, with a further two feet in the forecast, make Sunshine Village one of the top destinations for late-season skiing and snowboarding in Canada right now.
With all lifts running, a deep base, and a weekend that blends charity, live music, and snowboard culture, Banff Sunshine is making a strong case for why spring in the Rockies deserves its own dedicated trip and not just a postscript to the winter season.
