BELLA HADID ON SCENT LAYERING & NOSTALGIA-MAXXING
With the release of Orebella’s new Body & Hair Perfume Mist, Bella Hadid ushers in a new chapter for the brand – unapologetically tapping into the delirium of peak body-mist culture whilst making it feel chic again.

The year is 2015, and you’re staring into the mirror at the height of your teens – hair pressed to the max, strands still carrying the ghost of heat damage, waterlines aggressively rimmed in waxy, ultra-black eyeliner. You’re waiting (impatiently) for the tenth coat of mascara to dry, watching a mini skirt, even mini-er top, and knee-high boots wait on standby. But the look was never the final step. No night out began without that all-encompassing, borderline asphyxiating cloud of body mist – a throat-prickling haze of syrupy vanilla that clung to everything in its path. Hair, hoodies, bedsheets, boyfriends… no one was spared. So when, exactly, did we decide we were above it? Bella Hadid isn’t convinced we ever were.
Following the smashing success of Orebella’s debut fragrances, anchored by an oil-infused formula that hydrates as it scents, the model-turned-beauty-mogul expands her universe with lighter, more liberally applied iterations, presenting a new Body & Hair Perfume Mist. Equal parts throwback and quietly strategic, the mists double as the ideal base for one of beauty’s favourite parlour tricks right now: scent layering. Available in three moods – Gardenia’s Whisper, a soft-focus floral that feels like spring bottled; Nectar Dew, the crispest of the trio with notes of fig and pear; and Golden Brulee, the indulgent older sister, laced in tonka, vanilla and tobacco – these are fragrances that invite excess. Encourage it, even. But worry not: overdoing here isn’t really an option. The formulas are light, diffusive, and designed to build.
Arriving just as spring begins to stretch into something warmer, Miss Hadid may well have delivered one of the season’s great beauty hits. After all, who doesn’t want to smell like Bella? Sitting down with Wonderland, she unpacks the new launches, the art of smelling truly divine, and the olfactive memories that continue to shape Orebella. Keep reading…

Bella, what’s the secret to smelling truly divine?
Hydrated skin, clean ingredients, and layering with intention – that’s when a scent really comes alive. Don’t overcomplicate a fragrance, just let it do its thing!
Who’s the best-smelling person you know, and how would you describe their scent?
Honestly, people who smell the best are the ones whose scent feels effortless and personal. My mom has always had this warm, comforting, scent – soft florals, a little woody, super grounding. It’s never overpowering, just very her.
How have your olfactive memories shaped Orebella, and how close do these fragrances sit to your heart?
‘Ôrəbella is basically my memory library in scent form. Every fragrance comes from something real whether it’s my childhood, nature, love, healing. I’ve always been really sensitive to smell, so these aren’t just perfumes, they’re emotional anchors. They’re really close to my heart, like pieces of my life bottled.
What do you love most about the new mists, and do you have a favourite from the line?
The new mists are really special because they feel so effortless and spontaneous. I love that you can spray them anywhere, everywhere, all the time – on your skin, in your hair, on your clothes – you name it! You can really douse yourself in these. There’s a spontaneity to them that makes you want to layer, reapply, and play, which I love.
What’s beautiful is that even though they feel light and airy, each one has depth – there’s warmth and subtle complexity woven into them. They’re not just scents, they’re moods that you can carry with you. My favourite always changes depending on how I’m feeling – sometimes I want something fresh and uplifting, other times something cosy and grounding. I’m obsessed that they each have their own nourishing botanical water infusion – another nod to the skin-caring nature of our products. Plus I love to layer them, either with each other or with our existing skin parfums, to create custom blends based on my current mood.

Any tricks when it comes to layering? Would you combine them with your core collection?
Layering is everything. Start with your skin – oils and moisturised skin hold scent better. Apply our skin parfums first if you want to use both formats in your ritual. Then build up from there. I love combining the mists on top of the parfum collection as it helps the parfums bloom even more and creates something completely unique to you. There are no rules!
There’s something inherently nostalgic about body mists – they instantly transport me back to the 2010s. Did you have a mist-obsessed phase? What do you love most about them, and what memories do they bring?
Definitely. It takes me back to being younger, just discovering beauty and having fun with it. There was something so effortless about throwing a mist in your bag and spritzing it all over throughout the day. I love how scent can instantly transport you like that. What I love now is that you can still have that fun, but with formulas that feel a lot more intentional, elevated and kind to your skin and hair. We want our skin and hair to smell AND feel good – not be dried out from the scent we’re adding to it.
How do the different scents within the collection speak to one another?
They’re like different moods or energies that can exist on their own but also blend beautifully. GARDENIA’S WHISPER feels romantic and sensual, NECTAR DEW feels uplifting and fresh, and GOLDEN BRULEE feels warm and grounding. The all have this signature botanical undertone that I hope when you smell them, you’ll say that smells like ‘Ôrəbella.
