Every Sunday from January 4 to March 8 of this season, kids in grades K-12 who qualified for the honor roll could earn a $5 lift ticket at Alyeska Resort, Alaska. Due to the great response, the resort has now announced that it will extend this promotion until April 26.
The program aims to reward academic achievement while making skiing more accessible to local youth, offering a low-cost entry point into the sport. With this $5 pass, kids who have never had the option to try skiing finally have an affordable option that could develop into a lifelong passion. This is a unique deal from Alyeska that will bring in more business as well as support the community, and specifically the growing students.

The requirements to claim this offer are simple: just bring in the student’s most recent report card to the Alyeska ticket office and purchase the ticket. All students, whether home-schooled, private, or public, are accepted, and the honor roll is considered a GPA of 3.0 or above. For those educated without a grading system, a signed note from the principal or educator is sufficient to qualify.

Alyeska Resort says this program is “all about encouraging kids to stay active, try new things, and build confidence outside the classroom.” The success of this promotion could prompt other mountains to adopt similar offers in the following years, promoting excellence among the youth and expanding this spectacular but gatekept sport we all love.
The extension applies to Sundays on April 5, 12, 19, and 26. Alaska’s premier resort is planning to stay open until April 26. With 76 named trails and a total of 1,610 skiable acres, Alyeska is Alaska’s largest ski resort. The resort sees on average 650 inches of snowfall; however, this year, it is experiencing a below-average season with 354 inches so far, which is still more than most other resorts in America.
