Bradley Ray clear about areas to improve for BSB 2026
Bradley Ray is looking to find more traction after the first official BSB test of 2026.
2025 BSB runner-up Bradley Ray is focused on finding improvements in one are in particular at the final official preseason test of 2026.
Ray finished the Donington Park BSB test in fifth place and almost half-a-second behind Bimota’s Max Cook at the top of the times.
The conditions at the test were dry throughout, but both days were significantly affected by wind. Ray admitted the conditions weren’t “ideal” but he was able to try things with the bike setup anyway.
“Not bad,” Ray summarised when speaking to Crash.net after the final session at Donington.
“Conditions haven’t been the best, the wind has been quite strong which wasn’t ideal.
“We have a new tyre, so we’ve been working on that these last two days.
“There’s been time for me to try new things with the bike; the bike’s in a good place as it is.
“[In these to days we’ve been] chucking loads of components at it seeing if it’s something [worth following].”
The new SC1 tyre for this year is harder, and Ray says he wants to find more rear traction at the next test at Oulton Park.
“It’s a harder compound to last year, it’s the SC1 instead of the SC0,” he said.
“It’s a good tyre, it’s strong, it’s lasting well.
“The conditions weren’t ideal today and we were able to do 20-plus laps, so that’s a bonus.
“It’s just taking a little bit to understand how to set the bike up for this tyre.”
He added: “I think, try and find a little bit of rear traction, that’s the main thing at the minute. The bike feels good on the front, the speed’s there.
“The SC0 gives you more grip straight away, with the SC1 you have to try and force it into the [asphalt] a bit more, so it’s just trying to find the right chassis setup and suspension. The tyre life is good, which is important.”
The Oulton Park test is scheduled for 22–23 April ahead of the opening round at the same circuit on 3–5 May.
