First official 2026 BSB test exposes one Yamaha rider’s “downfall”
Windy conditions presented a chance to adapt for Danny Kent at the 2026 Donington BSB test.
Danny Kent says the weather conditions on the opening day of the BSB Donington test highlighted one of his “downfalls”.
Kent’s 2026 season will be his first with the TAS Racing team, although it will be the team’s first with Yamaha machinery after switching from the Ducati it ran in 2025.
Kent, by comparison, is much more experienced with the Yamaha, having ridden it in the past two BSB seasons. Still, there were things to work on during the first day of the Donington test.
“It’s been an okay day,” Kent summarised, speaking to Crash.net after the final session of day one.
“We’ve just got a few things that we need to just go through the list and Spanner [Chris Anderson, crew chief] wants to try a few different things. Some of it’s been good and some of it’s been bad.
“We’ve only been using the one tyre per session, so we’re not really chasing times today, we’re just trying to get through that list and understand what’s right and what’s wrong.”
The first day was mostly dry, but conditions were also very windy which presented an opportunity for Kent to work on what he called a ‘downfall’.
“It’s been windy today, that’s been one of my downfalls, really, I sort of struggle a bit,” he said.
“So, I’ve just been trying to adapt my riding style to make things a bit easier in the wind. It’s been a productive first day.”
Looking to Saturday’s final day of the Donington test, Kent was happy to leave his choices to the team.
“I just leave that down with the team, they’ve worked hard during the winter, they’ve come up with some ideas,” he said.
“Whatever they want me to try, I’ll try.”
Kent finished the day ninth-fastest on the combined times, his best time coming in the second session.
