President Donald Trump has extended the deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to April 6 as the United States is ecalating pressure on Iran, sending more paratroopers and warships to the Gulf.
Iran however warns that any US incursion will be costly and threatens to close another key shipping lane, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, with Yemen’s Houthis signaling readiness to join the fight.
