Park City Mountain Resort, Utah, will close its Mountain Village this weekend, ending the 2025-26 season weeks earlier than in recent memory (with the exception of 2020 for COVID), and three weeks earlier than originally planned on April 20.
Crescent and Payday lifts will spin for the final time Saturday, with 3 Kings and First Time completing their last runs Sunday. The closures affect only the Mountain Village side of the resort. Canyons Village will remain open, with resort officials saying they intend to keep operations going there as long as conditions allow.
As a consolation for visitors, the resort’s Mountain Coaster at Mountain Village is expected to remain operational into next week, subject to conditions.

Park City’s Mountain Village closed April 21 last year, April 22 in 2024, and May 1 in the 2022-23 season, its latest closing since 1993 after a record-snowfall year. A March 29 closing date represents what appears to be the earliest shutdown in at least several decades, and likely the earliest in the resort’s modern era, dating to its 2014 expansion under Vail Resorts.
“Our mountain operations team has done a phenomenal job all season battling Mother Nature. Hats off to them. But these sustained warm temperatures have really taken a toll on the mountain. As a result, we’ll be closing Mountain Village this weekend. Saturday will be the last day for the Upper Mountain, so Peyton and Crescent will close in. And then on Sunday, it will be the last day for First Time and 3 Kings. After that, we’ll keep the skiing and riding going over at Canyon Village, as long as conditions permit.”

Current snowpack in Park City sits at 53 inches, less than half of what it usually is this time of year. The resort has seen just 158″ of snow this season, again, significantly below its 355″ average.

The National Weather Service reported that this winter, which runs from December to February, has been the warmest on record, with an average temperature of 40.7°F at Salt Lake City International Airport. Park City is forecast to reach 64°F on Saturday and 58°F on Sunday, with rain as the most likely precipitation. Significant snowfall is not expected in the near term.
Park City Mountain’s closure came just hours after an identical announcement from Deer Valley Resort, which also shuttered its operations this week under the same conditions. Both resorts have cited persistent warmth and below-average snowfall.
