Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area, Idaho, will close for the winter on Sunday, March 22, resort officials announced, as unseasonably warm temperatures accelerate the end of an already thin snow season.

“With the warm temperatures in the forecast this week, the Mountain Operations team anticipates Sunday, March 22nd, to be the closing day of the 2025/26 winter season. Get up to the mountain for some spring-time turns in the sunshine this week!”

The closure will mark one of the earliest endings in the mountain’s recent history. The last time Bogus Basin closed this early was March 17, 2020, when resort officials shut down operations amid health precautions at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, reports KIVITV. By contrast, last season’s final ski day came more than six weeks later, on May 3.

Warm air is moving into the region this week, with daily high temperatures at the mountain forecast to reach the mid-60s by Wednesday. Night skiing operations will conclude on Saturday, March 21.

Bogus Basin has received 111 inches of snow this winter, less than half of its average annual of more than 250 inches, and has a 29″ base, 53% of average for this time of year.

Officials are encouraging skiers and snowboarders to make the most of the remaining days on the mountain. As of Monday, lifts are spinning from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with partly cloudy skies and a forecasted high of 49 degrees. The Superior Express Chairlift is operating from 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., while the Pine Creek Express remains closed.

Spring conditions are in effect across open terrain. Resort officials advise riders to wear removable layers, use dark or mirrored goggle lenses, and remain on marked trails. Unmarked hazards are present on the mountain.

Through Sunday, March 22, ICCU members receive 50% off lift tickets, lessons, and rentals as part of ICCU Member Week. Public bus service to Bogus Basin runs Saturday and Sunday, with a round-trip fare of $10 cash, collected at the Boise Bus Stop.
