Key Takeaways

  • Amber Glenn wore bold, sculptural eye makeup and peachy blush to present at the 2026 Glaad Awards.
  • Makeup artist Alana Theus used Haus Labs products for the look, and told Byrdie exactly how it came to be.

What do you do when you’ve just won a gold medal at the Olympics? Share the glory by presenting an award to someone else! With said gold medal around your neck, ideally.

On Thursday, March 5, Amber Glenn hit the town (ie. Los Angeles) for a night at the GLAAD Awards. To prep for the event, she worked with Haus Labs makeup artist Alana Theus on a look that combined her signature look—she loves a bold eye both on and off the ice—with a glowy complexion that somehow outshined her prized accessory.

Ahead, Theus tells Byrdie exactly how the makeup came to be, exact product breakdown and application tips included.

With her blonde hair piled on top of her head and skating dress swapped out for a smart black suit, Glenn rocked a major punch of dark shadow and liner that rimmed the entirety of her blue eyes. Her cheeks gleamed with a touch of peachy blush and her lips were glossed up with a dusty pink hue.

According to Theus, they drew inspiration from Madonna and her iconic, bold smoked-out shadow for the look: “something a little rebellious and effortlessly cool.”

“We went with a grunge structural eye and clean beautiful skin,” added the artist.

How to Get the Look

The key to the look was perfecting the skin with the Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation and Triclone Skin Tech Concealer.

“When you’re doing a bold eye, a seamless complexion keeps the whole look feeling balanced and polished,” she explained. For Glenn, they used the foundation in Shade 100 and concealer in Shade 5.

When it comes to application, Theus likes to start with a light layer of foundation and build up coverage only when needed. Then, she taps in the concealer with the Haus Labs Concealer Brush “to brighten and conceal under the eyes while strategically concealing around the nose and chin.”

“Both key products are long-wearing so whether Amber’s on the ice or the red carpet, the skin will stay flawless,” she adds. For the eyes, the Clear Cut Liquid Eyeliner was a staple for creating the bold wing.

Other go-tos included Color Fuse Glassy Blush Balm in the dusty pink shade Glassy Ginger, Color Fuse Powder Blush in soft coral Pomelo Peach, Precision Sculpt Shaping Balm in Chisel, Power Sculpt Velvet Bronzer in Bronzed Umber, Bio-Radiant Gel Powder Highlighter in Peach Quartz, and B Structural Volumizing + Lengthening Mascara. (Plus a yet-to-be-revealed new launch—you’ll hear more soon.)

The Final Touch

Before the Olympian headed out the door, Theus whipped out the Bio-Blurring Loose Setting powder.

“This product gives that photo-finish and retouched effect before even hitting the red carpet. Since it’s talc-free, it also eliminates the risk of flashback in photos,” the artist explained. “One trick I love is to take a small dome brush and apply the loose powder along the bottom lash line over the black shadow. This helps lock everything in and keeps the smoky effect without smudging or transferring.”
