Dacia has announced that a “hotly anticipated model” will arrive later this month, and we can today reveal the new model’s name: welcome, one and all, to the upcoming Dacia ‘Striker’.
No, not a footballing term, but a name with an ‘er’ ending just like the rest of the Dacia family. The new car is part of the Renault Group’s response to the “profound upheavals in the automotive industry”; a response that’ll see each of its three brands create “winning” cars.
So, this one will take the form of a crossover estate sized to compete with stuff like the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports and Skoda Octavia and other C segment cars. Because it’s a C segment car, y’see.
That’s kind of all we know at this stage, so with a bit of time before the next tranche of information – 10 March – TopGear.com eagerly anticipates the Dacia Striker’s incoming and entirely made-up siblings: the Dacia Defensive Midfielder, the Dacia Nutmeg, and of course, the Dacia Fox in the Box.
And no, TopGear.com still does not fully understand footballing terms.
