The New SuperSix EVO: Why the $3,000 Build is the Only One I’d Buy

I’ve spent the last month living with the 5th generation Cannondale SuperSix EVO, and either I’m jaded or this bike just isn’t that exciting. The marketing says this is the greatest bike ever, but my time on the road tells a different story. At $10,000 for the Hi-Mod—and even more for the Lab71—the SuperSix EVO has become a clone of the Specialized Tarmac SL8 without actually hitting the same high marks. It’s lost its unique identity, and I’m breaking down why I’d rather buy a Tarmac SL8 as an all-arounder or a Cervélo S5 for pure aero efficiency. I also dig into why there’s a hidden win in this lineup at the bottom: a $3,000 mechanical 105 build that makes the flagship prices look absurd.

The reality of the latest big launch is just one aspect of the show. Mike, Lisa, and I dive into the polarizing news of the upcoming Lance Armstrong movie starring Austin Butler. Does a big-screen biopic help or hurt the sport’s image? We also tackle your listener questions, including more on the rise of Chinese wireless drivetrains, Mike’s story of being chased in the dark by a “squadron” of squirrels, and whether radar is actually ruining the purity of the ride.

Finally, I’m doubling down on the take that set the comments section on fire: Hi-viz clothing is victim blaming. I’ll explain why I’m rejecting the “common sense” argument and why we need to stop shifting the burden of safety onto cyclists.
