Released in February 2024, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the second installment in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. The original soundtrack was given a physical release in April 2024 and now, almost two years later, the 175-track album has hit streaming.

The 175 tracks clock in at more than nine hours, and the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth soundtrack features contributions from 15 different composers including Masashi Hamauzu, Nobuo Uematsu and Mitsuto Suzuki. It went on to win the Golden Joystick Award for Best Soundtrack at the 2024 ceremony.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth breathes new life into one of the most revered games of all time. A vastly richer open world ensures your time in Gaia is thoroughly engrossing, while Cloud’s story is as gripping as it was in 1997,” NME wrote in a four-star review.

Square Enix had planned to release an expansion for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth but at the end of 2024, it was announced that the DLC had been scrapped so the team could focus on the final chapter in the trilogy. “It’s our highest priority,” said director Naoki Hamaguchi.

The third Final Fantasy 7 Remake game has been given an official title but Hamaguchi is keeping it secret for the time being. There are no release details either but fans are expecting it to launch in early 2027. Series producer Yoshinori Kitase has also hinted that unlike the first two games, the third Final Fantasy Remake title won’t be a PlayStation exclusive.

Earlier this week, Square Enix confirmed a “deep house” remix album for the Final Fantasy 9 soundtrack. There had been reports a remake of the cult classic was in the works but according to a reliable leaker, that project is now “on ice”.

In other news, “crazy” Grand Theft Auto 6 fans have been trying to spy on developers at Rockstar which means the physical release of the game might be delayed to 2027.
