For the last couple of years, I’ve been privately weathering a very dark storm.
A bike crash in November 2021 left me with a concussion that resulted in devastating, long-term symptoms. The arduous recovery from this invisible injury has been the biggest challenge of my life. A grueling, internal expedition that I did not have the tools, skills, or a map to help me navigate. I suffered silently and unnecessarily for a very long time.
I’m happy to tell you that my recovery journey is on an upward spiral, and I now have tools, teammates and knowledge to continue my recovery and help others navigate theirs.
My slow journey back to health displayed the lack of quality, informed brain injury care. The good news is that brain injury is treatable and there are skilled experts in this field.
My goal is to share what I’ve learned about concussion care, provide resources, and use my story to help people recover more quickly.
I am extremely proud to launch a four-part podcast series called Brain Storm in collaboration with Selene Yeager, Feisty Media, and Momentous. Each episode follows my journey, brings in expert guests and provides resources for people with brain injury.
