In October, I journeyed to picturesque Okinawa for the most memorable trip with Tatcha, where the beloved Japanese skincare brand gathered an intimate group of editors and creators to celebrate the launch of its new Longevity collection. Tatcha chose Okinawa as the inspiration for this line because it’s one of the world’s original Blue Zones—a region where people often experience longevity, thriving well into their 80s and beyond.
Earlier this year, Tatcha introduced The Longevity Serum, and now the line is expanding with The Longevity Memory Cream. This newly launched moisturizer is a cushiony gel-cream that helps support your skin’s natural ceramide levels, strengthen the skin barrier, and lock in lasting hydration. I’ve been using The Longevity Memory Cream for the past two months, and in the process, I’ve been chatting with the brand’s experts to get an inside look at how this innovative formula came to life. Keep scrolling to learn more.
The Inspiration
Developed by scientists at the Tatcha Institute in Tokyo, the Longevity Memory Cream is formulated to leave your skin brighter, visibly renewed, and glowing like the waters of Okinawa. Tatcha’s current offerings include several other moisturizers—like the award-winning Dewy Skin Cream and Water Cream—so I was incredibly curious about what sets the Longevity Memory Cream apart.

“The Longevity Memory Cream really helps support the skin’s natural ceramides and hydration, while also delivering a different skin finish,” Tatcha’s director of product development, Delise Martire, tells me. “With our Dewy Skin Cream, you get that signature glow. Our Water Cream, for example, provides lightweight hydration with a slight pore-refining effect. When we were designing a moisturizer for the Longevity Collection, it had to feel different—not just in texture, but in the way it leaves the skin looking and feeling.”
Speaking to texture, Martire says the Tatcha team aimed to achieve a memory-foam-like feel. “When we’re younger, our skin remembers how to stay bright, elastic, and firm. As we age, that memory tends to fade. We wanted to reflect that in the texture—what happens to your skin and what we’re restoring.”
She adds, “For the skin finish, we were really inspired by the glistening waters of Okinawa. With this formula, we introduced a new skin finish to our moisturizer portfolio—a post-facial glow.”
The Formula
Tatcha scientists translated the wisdom of Okinawa’s culture into the Okinawa Cellescence Complex. This special ingredient blend includes ancestral Okinawan herbs and plants, including skin-evening shikuwasa lime extract, barrier-strengthening noni juice extract, and exfoliating shell ginger. It helps reduce senescent cells that contribute to premature aging, or inflammaging, while proactively preventing future buildup.

The formula also contains a nanopeptide and bio-fermented hyaluronic acid for added skincare boosts. Martire explains, “You’re getting that brightening benefit from the peptide and the hyaluronic acid, which has a really high molecular weight, helps deliver a deeper moisture than you’d expect from a cream.”
Tatcha reports that, in a clinical study of 31 participants, 97% reported improved overall skin appearance within one week. By two weeks, 97% agreed that the look of fine lines was diminished. “The amazing part is the results we saw—how people felt their skin looked more awake and less fatigued,” Martire says. “In the context of longevity, we often focus on things like the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, elasticity, and firmness, which are all important. But seeing that consumers perceived their skin as looking less tired—and that expert graders agreed—is exciting.”
My Review
I have incredibly dry skin, and lately it’s been looking dull and feeling itchy, so I was excited to try this to revitalize my skin and start proactively addressing signs of aging—even in my 20s. I use it morning and night, and the texture immediately caught my attention—it’s bouncy, like a memory foam mattress, and unlike any moisturizer I’ve tried because it actually holds its shape once you scoop it out.

It’s worth noting that The Longevity Memory Cream has fragrance, so some people may not love that (I don’t mind!). The scent is a custom creation inspired by the Okinawan islands, enhancing the product’s spa-like feel. For me, the notes are soothing and add to the overall sensorial experience, instantly taking me back to my days on the island.
Whenever I use the ultra-plush cream, I like to scoop a small amount into my hands and rub it together before applying it to my face. It lies beautifully under makeup and plays well with other products like serums and sunscreens. Right away, it delivers a glow and noticeable smoothness, and over the last few months, I’ve seen a real difference. My skin looks plump, glassy, bright, and radiant—truly glowy in a way that feels healthy and restored. When I look back at selfies from October to December, I can see a clear difference in my skin, and that alone has convinced me of the power of this new cream.
