There are certain riffs, certain solos, that transcend the limitations of a single instrument. Take Megadeth‘s “Tornado of Souls,” a masterpiece of molten metal that Marty Friedman built with his wizardry and an electric guitar. It’s the kind of solo that makes you want to headbang until your neck becomes a metronome. But could it possibly translate to the serene, orchestral world of the French horn?

Apparently, the answer is a mind-bending “yes.” We stumbled upon a YouTube channel called Shaped in Dreams, and let’s just say they’ve redefined our understanding of instrumental boundaries. This anonymous musician has taken Friedman‘s iconic solo and breathed new life into it, not with distortion and shredding, but with the warm, nuanced tones of the French horn.

It’s not just about hitting the right notes. This cover captures the soul of the original. The phrasing, the bends, the emotion – it all comes through, transformed into a language of flowing brass. So grab your headphones, crank up the volume, and prepare to have your brain gently melted by the French horn that sounds like Marty Friedman on a bad acid trip (in the best way possible).
