The aiddas Anthony Edwards 2 “Christmas,” on top of tacking on a giftable colorway to Ant’s catalog, is a novel step in the silhouette’s lineage. Leaning into mismatched aesthetics, the shoe delivers trademark seasonal green and red across its interior and exterior sides, respectively, joined together by black anchoring in the spaces between. Overall, it’s the first time that an adidas AE release has featured this sort of blocking. If you’re willing to extend the shoe’s metaphor, the hits of metallic silver down the midline read as tinsel-esque, all the more fitting given Ant’s arboreal logo on the tongue.

In an extra bit of tacit marketing, the adidas Anthony Edwards 2 “Christmas” will likely get some shine on the day itself, as Anthony Edwards makes his second consecutive Christmas appearance against the Mavericks, marking just the fourth time that his Timberwolves will take the stage in the winter showcase.
