Key Takeaways

  • Victoria Beckham and Augustinus Bader teamed up for Victoria Beckham Beauty’s new Foundation Drops.
  • The foundation offers lightweight, natural coverage and skincare benefits.
  • Team Byrdie loved the product’s comfortable feel and airbrushed finish.

There’s a special kind of magic that happens when one or more brilliant minds come together, especially when one of the geniuses at work is Victoria Beckham. Her involvement was integral to the success of The Spice Girls—we got so many hits and even more style inspiration from the band. She and David created a beautiful family and are ultimately the reason we have Cloud 23 hot sauce, and her 2024 Mango collab was gorgeous.

Now, the 51-year-old is continuing her work with another icon, Augustinus Bader, by way of Victoria Beckham Beauty. The new Victoria Beckham By Augustinus Bader Foundation Drops, which launched September 3, might be their best makeup-turned-skincare invention yet.

Ahead, discover everything there is to know about the complexion powerhouse—plus Team Byrdie’s honest review.

The Inspiration

“We created The Foundation Drops for minimalists like me,” explains Beckham. With light-to-medium buildable coverage, the 19 shades were made to complement Victoria Beckham and Augustinus Bader’s already beloved Concealer Pen.

The brands promise “flawless skin from the first drop” with a dewy, blurred, natural finish thanks to “a just-enough network of pigments that diffuses imperfections while allowing natural skin to shine through.”

To add even more ease to your routine, they’re alsoreleasing a perfect brush to go along with the drops: the chic, wood-handled Flat Complexion Brush.

The Formula

According to the brand, The Foundation Drops were designed to feel undetectable on your face with a “breathable serum-light formula” that sinks right in and moves with your skin.

The hero ingredient here is, unsurprisingly, Augustinus Bader’s proprietary skin cell rejuvenator TFC8. Professor Augustinus Bader discovered the complex—”a carefully crafted blend of high-grade vitamins, lipids, and high-performing, proprietary peptides”—in his laboratory. It carries key nutrients to your skin and over 30 years of research in applied stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.

The entire shade range also contains echinacea purpurea extract to visibly contour and firm the skin, spilanthes acmella flower extract to reduce roughness, and bioactive compound-rich olive leaf extract to promote skin cell rejuvenation.

“The formula melts into my skin for a naturally flawless complexion and nourishes with Augustinus Bader’s TFC8 technology as I wear it,” Beckham added. “This is the first foundation that feels like nothing, yet truly does everything.”

“I haven’t used foundation in months as I’m a skin tint girlie through and through. But these foundation drops won me over. They give me the lightweight look and feel of a skin tint, with just the right amount of coverage and a luminous finish. I tested them out at a wedding, and not only did the formula glide effortlessly over my skin, but it also worked beautifully with the rest of my makeup. By the end of the night, my skin looked dewy, not cakey. It truly delivers that skincare-meets-makeup vibe.”

“From the first wear, I got compliments on how flawless my complexion looked. The tint feels undetectable on the skin, but has a light to medium coverage that I crave for everyday glam. I found applying a few drops on the back of my hand and picking up the formula with a brush gave me the most targeted and even application. Plus, it is super easy to layer in spots where you want more coverage. My only complaint is that I wish I had these drops all summer long—it’s the perfect low-maintenance, high-reward foundation.”

“If you’re the type of person who cannot stand feeling like you’re wearing foundation, these are the drops for you—the number one attribute that comes to my mind while wearing this one is ‘lightweight.’ It really feels like I’m wearing nothing at all. The coverage is buildable; a couple of drops imparted a blurring effect. I haven’t been wearing it long enough to speak to any of the skincare claims, but I can say that I feel hydrated and moisturized wearing it. Definitely worth checking out for the balanced, dry, and mature-skinned among us!”

“This is such a pretty foundation. The lightweight formula really melts right into my skin and offers a gorgeous satin finish. I love that it’s luminous but not too glowy, and though it lets my skin peek through it offers a nice blurring finish. It’s buildable, but if you’re looking for significant coverage you might want to look elsewhere—I’d place this one on the light end of medium. Still, it wore all day and left my skin feeling bouncy and comfortable. It will definitely be a go-to as we move into cooler weather.”
