Today (December 9), <\/span>Pornhub<\/span><\/a> publishes its annual Year In Review. The report unpacks a year\u2019s worth of data from the most visited porn site in the world, identifying emerging trends, the most-searched terms, best performing categories, most popular performers, and more. Read on for a rare insight into global porn habits.<\/span><\/p>\n

EMBRACING NATURAL BEAUTY<\/span><\/h2>\n

According to Pornhub\u2019s data, MILF porn is consistently one of the most popular genres on the site. But over the past 12 months, interest in this trend has grown: \u201cmilf\u201d was the second most searched term worldwide (for the fifth year in a row, \u201chentai\u201d remains the most searched).<\/span><\/p>\n

This year also saw increases in searches for \u201chot milf\u201d (up 77 per cent), \u201ccougar\u201d (up 83 per cent), \u201cgilf\u201d (up 129 per cent), and \u201c50 plus\u201d (up 105 per cent). Relatedly, the Mature category was the 5th most viewed category worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other popular searches included \u201cnatural beauty\u201d (up 124 per cent), \u201creal woman\u201d (up 98 per cent), and \u201cno make-up\u201d(up 136 per cent).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a growing interest in \u2018realness\u2019, age and naturalism. The rise of \u2018mature women,\u2019 \u2018natural beauty,\u2019 \u2018real woman,\u2019 and \u2018no makeup\u2019 indicates a craving for more grounded, \u2018real life\u2019 attractiveness,\u201d says <\/span>Dakota Ramppen<\/span><\/a>, a contributor to the Pornhub Sexual Wellness Center, educator, and relationship coach. \u201cIn a way, this pushes society toward body positivity and realistic beauty standards.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

FORBIDDEN FANTASIES<\/span><\/h2>\n

One of 2025\u2019s viral moments \u2013 the Coldplay concert CEO scandal \u2013 penetrated our porn habits this year, \u201coffice affair\u201d searches increased 210 per cent, and \u201cCEO\u201d 388 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Relatedly, searches for \u201ccheating\u201d were up 94 per cent, \u201ccheating wife\u201d up\u00a0 61 per cent, \u201ccaught cheating\u201d up 53 per cent, and \u201csneaky cheating\u201d up 148 per cent. \u201cCuckold\u201d was up 73 per cent, \u201chotwife\u201d was up 101 per cent, \u201cswingers\u201d was up 68 per cent, and \u201cwife swap\u201d was up 39 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat trends in our culture tends to take on a sexual interest,\u201d says <\/span>Dr Laurie Betito,<\/span><\/a> broadcaster, author, therapist, speaker and creator of two TEDx Talks, and the captain of the ship at the <\/span>Pornhub Sexual Wellness Center<\/span><\/a>. \u201cFor this year, it was the Coldplay concert scandal. Power dynamics also come into play here, where boss\/employee relationships are eroticised. These fantasies are powerful because of the risky and taboo nature of these types of relationships\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

What trends in our culture tends to take on a sexual interest<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

LGBTQ+ PORN IS ON THE UP<\/span><\/h2>\n

This year, \u201clesbian\u201d emerged as the top category on Pornhub. Searches for \u201clesbian MILF\u201d grew by 129 per cent, \u201clesbian scissoring\u201d 79 per cent, and \u201clesbian strapon\u201d 62 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTransgender\u201d was the second most viewed category of the year, with search terms \u201ctrans threesome\u201d growing by 67 per cent and \u201ctrans amateur\u201d by 49 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Relatedly, searches for \u201cqueer\u201d were up 132 per cent, and \u201cbisexual\u201d 88 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cREAL LIFE, BUT SPICIER\u201d<\/span><\/h2>\n

This year saw a rise in roleplay-related searches, with the Role Play category rising in popularity by 98 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Viewers were particularly interested in job-themed videos: for example, searches for the term \u201cdriver\u201d were up 144 per cent, \u201cplumber\u201d 67 per cent, \u201cchef\u201d 39 per cent, and \u201cprofessor\u201d 33 per cent. It\u2019s clear people were keen for porn which explored power dynamics too: \u201cboss\u201d grew 175 per cent, \u201ccop\u201d 54 per cent, and \u201csoldier\u201d 41 per cent. Searches for \u201cemployee\u201d also grew 183 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPeople want stories, structure, power dynamics,\u201d says Ramppen. \u201cThe spike in role play categories suggest viewers are craving scenarios that feel more like \u2018real life, but spicier.\u2019 It\u2019s less about pure sex, more about context \u2014 taboo, authority play, everyday fantasies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

ID REQUIREMENTS MAY HAVE CHANGED UK VIEWERS\u2019 HABITS<\/span><\/h2>\n

This year, after the Online Safety Act became law in the UK, all websites which host pornographic material were made to introduce \u201crobust\u201d age-checking for their visitors. This meant that, from July 25, anyone visiting Pornhub in the UK was required to send off their ID to verify that they were over 18.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, UK fell three spots to #8 among Pornhub\u2019s Top 20 countries by traffic. The UK also recorded the lowest share of female viewers globally, at just 25 per cent. It\u2019s unclear whether there\u2019s a direct correlation between this decline and the new laws, but it seems eminently possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, Gen Z now accounts for 47 per cent of UK traffic, one of the highest proportions globally, trailing only Egypt (50 per cent) and the Philippines (49 per cent).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
