Jordan Brand kicked off celebrations for its 40th anniversary by releasing the Jordan 1 High \u201985 \u201cBred\u201d in February, roughly coinciding with the date the NBA sent its infamous letter regarding Michael Jordan\u2019s black and red signature shoes forty years ago. The release was supported by a renewed \u201cbanned\u201d campaign that brought together some of Jordan Brand\u2019s most influential partners, including Luka Don\u010di\u0107, Nigel Sylvester, Travis Scott, and many, many more.<\/p>\n<p>But the Jumpman isn\u2019t finished just yet. New images posted by sneaker leaker and reseller @yyt_snkrs show an Air Jordan 1 Low OG \u201cBanned\u201d sample expected to drop in 2026. The core design follows the classic \u201cBred\u201d formula with multiple textures of black and Varsity Red leather. The \u201cBanned\u201d theme comes to life through X\u2019s placed where the Jordan Wings logo typically sits on the backtab. The insoles read, \u201cOn September 15th, 1984, Nike created a revolutionary new basketball shoe,\u201d echoing the narration from the original \u201cbanned\u201d commercial. The sockliner features the date 10.18.84, the day the league officially barred MJ from wearing the black and red Air Jordan 1.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan Brand released a high-top version of this style in 2011, widely considered one of the standout Jordan 1 drops of its era. We know the Jordan Air Ship to be the <em>actual<\/em> banned sneaker, but the Jumpman has never let that get in the way of a little revisionist history. Some might argue that the \u201cBanned\u201d theme would work better on the \u201985 cut of the Air Jordan 1 Low, and that is a fair point, but the \u201cOG\u201d remains far and away the most popular version, especially now that the beloved big Swoosh is back in the fold.<\/p>\n<p>The Air Jordan 1 Low OG \u201cBanned\u201d does not yet have a confirmed release date, but a Spring\/Summer 2026 launch appears likely.
