Pro-legionary blogger C\u0103t\u0103lin Valeriu D\u0103noiu, the owner of the Veghe Patriei website, is said to have been detained for 24 hours on Thursday, November 16, for incitement to hatred and discrimination, sources told ziare.com.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police officers from the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) allegedly searched the 44-year-old man\u2019s residence in Bucharest, where they found hundreds of stickers with the image of Corneliu Zelea Codreanu and other symbols of the Legionary Movement, banned in Romania.<\/p>\n

C\u0103t\u0103lin Valeriu D\u0103noiu is close to Senator Diana \u0218o\u0219oac\u0103, with whom he recently took a photo. \u201cHappy birthday, Diana. Long live the Legion and the Captain!\u201d the man wrote on his blog.<\/p>\n

However, the message is considered harmless compared to other articles on the Veghe Patriei website, where the man refers to Jews using the terms \u201cjidani\u201d and \u201cfilth\u201d in the context of the war between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas.<\/p>\n

Criminal Investigation police officers reportedly carried out a search warrant on Thursday, November 16, at the home of a 44-year-old man in Bucharest, where they found several extremist symbols \u2013 31 stickers bearing the emblem of the Legionary Movement and 147 stickers with the photograph of Corneliu Zelea Codreanu.<\/p>\n

The man is said to be under criminal investigation for the offense provided by Ordinance 31\/2002 regarding the possession for the purpose of spreading fascist, legionary, racist, or xenophobic symbols.<\/p>\n

After the search of his home, a warrant for bringing him in was executed, and he was taken to the Criminal Investigation Service headquarters, where the criminal investigation authorities ordered his detention for incitement to hatred or discrimination and three other offenses provided by Government Emergency Ordinance no. 31\/2002, which refer to the distribution of fascist, legionary, racist, or xenophobic materials, as well as the promotion and dissemination in public of such ideas, concepts, or doctrines.<\/p>\n

According to Government Emergency Ordinance no. 31\/2002, spreading, selling, or manufacturing fascist, racist, or xenophobic symbols, as well as the possession for the purpose of spreading such symbols, are punishable by imprisonment from 6 months to 5 years and the deprivation of certain rights.<\/p>\n

The same penalty applies to the public use of fascist, racist, or xenophobic symbols.<\/p>\n

Promoting the cult of persons guilty of committing a crime against peace and humanity or promoting fascist, racist, or xenophobic ideology through propaganda, carried out by any means, in public, is punishable by imprisonment from 6 months to 5 years and the deprivation of certain rights.<\/p>\n

Challenging or denying the Holocaust or its effects in public is punishable by imprisonment from 6 months to 5 years and the deprivation of certain rights.<\/p>\n

These are the harmful effects of the anti-Romanian laws, by which a patriotic Romanian is persecuted in the most totalitarian way possible. For what? For having a different opinion than the system.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
