You may not have heard of Jaclyn Sienna India or her high-end travel agency Sienna Charles, but you\u2019d definitely recognize her clients. And that\u2019s the point. Here, India gives us her top destinations for the New Year\u2019s holiday, from a far-flung archipelago to Miami Beach.<\/p>\n

Paris<\/strong>
\u201cWhen I think of holidays, I think of the most glamorous places you can celebrate,\u201d says India, which is why the City of Light is a perennial list-topper. \u201cThe way they decorate for the holidays\u2014you don\u2019t lose that holiday feeling by being away from home,\u201d she adds. Couple your gorgeous seasonal surroundings with a fabulous hotel suite (preferably one with views of the Eiffel Tower twinkling), access to great restaurants, and perhaps even a ballet performance at the Palais Garnier for a spectacular kickoff to the new year. If staying at the newly renovated H\u00f4tel de Crillon feels a tad too extravagant, India recommends the Relais Christine, which also completed a recent renovation. \u201cIt\u2019s a small property on the Left Bank, with really amazing terraces.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shanghai<\/strong>
\u201cThe whole city does an amazing job with decorations, which makes it feel really festive. And there\u2019s a great fireworks display on New Year\u2019s Eve,\u201d says India (FYI, this is where she plans on spending her winter holidays). Three new luxury hotels have just opened or will open shortly, too: an Aman, the Swire Hotels\u2019s Middle House, and the Bulgari Hotel.<\/p>\n

Egypt<\/strong>
\u201cThere\u2019s a ton of growth in Egypt right now,\u201d India notes. It goes hand-in-hand with new nonstop flights between Cairo and JFK on EgyptAir. She recommends using Cairo as a base and taking day trips or activities\u2014like a private riverboat trip down the Nile\u2014from there. Aside from the pleasant weather, India cites the friendly nature of Egyptians as an unexpected travel perk. \u201cThere\u2019s a warmth you can\u2019t buy, and there\u2019s something really special about that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tuscany, Italy<\/strong>
What\u2019s the Italian equivalent of hygge? \u201cI\u2019m always looking for that cozy factor, and Tuscany definitely has it around that time of year,\u201d India says. And for the first time, Rosewood Hotels\u2019s Castiglion Del Bosco, a picturesque estate of farmhouses and villas situated on a winery in Montalcino, is open throughout the winter. India loves it for its all-in-one appeal. \u201cAlong with the winery and tasting room, the hotel\u2019s chef will cook you amazing dinners. There\u2019s a spa, tons of great wine, you can take cooking classes . . .\u201c Bring a group and make it your cocoon until the new year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Miami Beach, Florida<\/strong>
\u201cWhen it comes to a good New Year\u2019s Eve party, Faena hotel does such an incredible job with its entertainment programming,\u201d India says. This year\u2019s theme, \u201cNight of Desire,\u201d complete with a pop-flamenco performance, isn\u2019t likely to disappoint. Round things out by spending New Year\u2019s Day at Tierra Santa Healing House, the hotel\u2019s bliss-inducing spa, which India declares as one of the best in the country.<\/p>\n

India<\/strong>
If you\u2019re setting an intention for a more balanced life in 2018, try striking that tone in India. Our expert recommends celebrating the abundant festivities in Delhi before stealing away to the Aman hotel in Rajasthan for some downtime and self-restoration at the hotel\u2019s newly revamped, game-changing spa. \u201cIt\u2019s one of the best programs I\u2019ve ever experienced. For a fairy-tale-like setting, winter is the time to visit St. Petersburg, India says, especially now that Aeroflot offers direct flights on business class from JFK. Though the visa process is more paper-intensive than most other destinations on this list, third-party companies can help streamline the process to as little as three days. And, India insists, you won\u2019t be disappointed. \u201cIt\u2019s just one of the dreamiest places you can go. If it\u2019s snowing, it feels like you\u2019re in a snow globe. Caviar flows, the Russian women are beautiful and wear the most glamorous outfits. There\u2019s great art and culture, amazing food and cozy restaurants. It feels like you\u2019re in this winter wonderland.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Iceland<\/strong>
For an adventure with friends, India says Iceland is a home run across the board, starting with a stay at the 13-room Eleven Experience Deplar Farm property, which will feel like your own exclusive retreat. Seeing the northern lights will top any fireworks display, and the landscape itself also offers infinite otherworldly vistas. \u201cThere are helicopter tours that land on glaciers, with private lunches as soon as you arrive,\u201d says India, \u201cand Reykjavik does a great New Year\u2019s party, too, if you want to stay in the city.\u201d While the Blue Lagoon has become one of Iceland\u2019s most-visited attractions, India offers up this tip for avoiding the crowds: \u201cA lot of people don\u2019t know that you can pay extra for a VIP pass, which gets you your own dressing room and your own private area of the lagoon.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s well worth the journey to this remote Indonesian archipelago, where you can hop from one private beach to the next and sleep aboard yachts. You\u2019ll feel like the only people on earth\u2014especially since this Shangri-la requires going offline. \u201cThe cell service is somewhat spotty there,\u201d India notes, which is why that time of year is ideal for visiting. \u201cIt\u2019s the only week when it\u2019s okay for most people to unplug and take a break from emails.\u201d As tempting as it is in a place this gorgeous, Instagram will have to wait.<\/p>\n

Napa Valley, California<\/strong>
Even with the recent wildfires, India says that Napa Valley still stands as one of her top picks for New Year\u2019s Eve this year, especially if you can book a room at SingleThread Farms, where the on-site restaurant has attracted one accolade after the next since its 2016 opening. \u201cThe restaurant is gorgeous and the food is absolutely amazing,\u201d says India of chef Kyle Connaughton\u2019s cooking, while the inn component is quite literally the cherry on top: \u201cThere\u2019re only a few rooms, and the stay upstairs is so personal and customized. They make you your own ice cream when you\u2019re ready for bed, for example.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
