During the holidays, it can be hard to find any aspect of your life that hasn\u2019t seemingly been flooded with messages about the season. Your inbox is hijacked by retailers encouraging (begging) you to purchase that special gift for that special someone. That gathering you\u2019re planning to host in December is no longer just a party, but a holiday<\/em> party. And, of course, even your favorite TV shows get in on the game.<\/p>\n

Sure, there have been favorites over the years: Seinfeld<\/em>\u2019s iconic episode \u201cThe Strike\u201d (also known as the introduction of the TV-watching public to Festivus) or any of The Office<\/em>\u2019s whopping seven<\/em> Christmas episodes (\u201cMoroccan Christmas\u201d and \u201cChristmas Party\u201d are especially fondly remembered on the Internet). Friends<\/em> (which isn\u2019t leaving Netflix after all), Gossip Girl<\/em>, and Gilmore Girls<\/em> all have a number of themed chapters to fall asleep to, secure in the knowledge that nothing too dramatic will unfold while you snooze, and that everyone will end up feeling the holiday spirit by the time the end credits roll.<\/p>\n

But what if you\u2019re looking for something new? Something to actually capture your attention and<\/em> keep you in holiday cheer? Well, you\u2019re in luck: The close of 2018 has brought us brand-new holiday content to binge. Whether it\u2019s a one-off episode set during the 12 days of Christmas or an entire season of Christmas baking (reader: we honestly couldn\u2019t be happier), your December just became a bit busier. Get watching!<\/p>\n

The Great British Baking Show: Holidays<\/em> (November 30)<\/strong>
Even if you aren\u2019t a fan of food-related television (and why the heck not?), it\u2019s hard to find something bad to say about The Great British Baking Show<\/em>. (The Sunday Scaries podcast proclaims it one of the best shows to watch hungover.) The contestants are all regular, relatable people who enjoy baking and are particularly good at it\u2014and who smile even when they get eliminated, if that gives you any idea of the stakes. This special spin-off combines the spirit of the holidays with beloved contestants from seasons past. Watch some of your favorite baking Brits bring out the winter delights in hopes of being named Winter Star Baker. The only thing missing? Mary Berry. Sigh.<\/p>\n

Nailed It! Holiday!<\/em> (December 7)<\/strong>
I\u2019ve written about why Nailed It!<\/em> is one of the best shows ever<\/em> and I am relieved to report that the fun continues with a new season of holiday-related fails. Everyone\u2019s favorite judges are back to consider a crop of amateur (aka terrible) bakers who duke it out for a prize of $10,000. If The Great British Baking Show<\/em> is too civilized for you, try this Netflix Original for lots of laughs and a new catch phrase that you\u2019ll find yourself using everywhere. (Another possible side effect: You\u2019ll feel a lot better about your own dessert attempts.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina<\/em> (December 14)<\/strong>
Is any<\/em> baking show too wholesome for you? How about a holiday special starring everyone\u2019s favorite recently rebooted half-witch? Chilling Adventures of Sabrina<\/em> adds fright into your festivities this year by replacing Christmas with the winter solstice and Christmas carols with pagan carols. Stay tuned for ghost stories told around the Yule fire and a looming fear over unwelcome visitors. Pro tip: Have a lighthearted Christmas flick (or a classic!) cued up for afterward.<\/p>\n

Schitt\u2019s Creek Holiday Special<\/em> (December 19)<\/strong>
Fans of Schitt\u2019s Creek<\/em> surely have this premiere saved on their calendars, as they\u2019ve been living without their favorite family since the show\u2019s latest season finished in April. The special gives viewers a peek into pre-disaster life with the Roses as they engage in holiday fun in their rarely seen mansion. While it may be just a teaser, fans don\u2019t need to worry: The 14-episode fifth season airs January 16 on Pop TV.
