Sheer nail polishes in traditional beige and pale pink tones have dominated celebrity hands for a couple of years now, and I totally get it. The look is timeless, versatile, easy, and always pretty. But what if, like me, you love that glassy, barely-there look, but you’re craving a different color? Maybe not bold color<\/em>, but not something entirely expected either. Well, gaze upon Demi Lovato’s latest look and you’ll find the solution to your nail ennui.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, nail artist Natalie Minerva shared a carousel to Instagram featuring both a photo and video close-up of Lovato’s glassy manicure. \u201cGhost jellies for @ddlovato for @trishapaytas Just Trish \ud83d\udc95\u2728 This black jelly that\u2019s really just a cloudy sheer grey \ud83d\udda4 I love this look for fall \ud83c\udf27\ufe0f\ud83c\udf2b\ufe0f,\u201d she wrote in the caption.<\/p>\n

Minerva elaborated to Allure<\/em>, telling us that the gel polish she used to coat the short, ballerina-shape extensions \u201cwas one of my picks that I make on my annual trip to Japan for nail items.\u201d So it may not exactly be easy to recreate it down to every last detail.<\/p>\n

That said, Minerva assures Allure<\/em> that you can absolutely get a similar look with regular jelly nail polish. Our pick: Essie Nail Art Studio Jelly Gloss in Ink Jelly, a sheer black shade that creates a translucent gray finish like Lovato’s.<\/p>\n
