Ready up the popcorn and hot cocoa, folks, because \u2019tis the season for Netflix Christmas movies. Each and every year the streaming giant releases a slew of new holiday films, and in 2024 the offerings are as various as the gifts in Santa\u2019s sleigh.<\/p>\n

So what new cinematic masterpieces await us this year? Consider Hot Frosty<\/em>, about a snowman who magically comes to life\u2026in the body of a hot man, or The Merry Gentleman<\/em>, starring Chad Michael Murray as a carpenter turned dancer who begins performing shirtless routines to save his local bar from closing down (yes, really).<\/p>\n

In other words: This year\u2019s Netflix releases are a wild ride. Here, we rank them from best to worst. (And trust that this list will<\/em> be updated: Holiday releases like That Christmas<\/em> are slated to come out later this month, meaning we\u2019ll have many more festive films to dissect and discuss.)<\/p>\n

Without further ado, here are our reviews of the 2024 Netflix Christmas movies.<\/p>\n

Best: Our Little Secret<\/em><\/h2>\n

Starring:<\/strong> Lindsay Lohan, Ian Harding, Kristin Chenoweth
The plot:<\/strong> Two resentful exes (Lindsay Lohan and Ian Harding) must spend Christmas together after finding out that their significant others are siblings. Cue the drama!
The verdict:<\/strong> This is Lohan\u2019s third Netflix movie (following Falling for Christmas<\/em> and Irish Wish<\/em>), and it does not disappoint\u2014in fact, it may just be her best one yet. LiLo proves, once again, that she is queen of the romantic comedy: She can still get a laugh, especially during the scene when, after accidentally consuming a handful of weed gummies, she must deliver a speech at Christmas mass. Chenoweth, meanwhile, delights as the scene-stealing, slightly frosty mother-in-law. \u201cOh, look, it\u2019s a screw-top,\u201d she says when Lohan\u2019s character brings her a bottle of wine as a housewarming gift, eyeing her up and down. \u201cFast and easy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Second-best (in a campy way): Hot Frosty<\/em><\/h2>\n

Starring:<\/strong> Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan
The plot:<\/strong> A widower, Cathy (Lacey Chabert, the queen of Christmas movies), magically brings a snowman to life in the body of a hot man (Dustin Milligan). In time, his innocence and joie de vivre help to heal her broken heart.
The verdict:<\/strong>Hot Frosty<\/em> has all the makings of a campy, cheesy Christmas movie. Lacey Chabert\u2014forever to be known as Gretchen Wieners from Mean Girls<\/em>\u2014commands the screen with warmth, while Dustin Milligan plays the part of a (slightly idiotic) snowman turned man to perfection. Come for the cozy diner scenes, which will definitely make you crave a warm bowl of soup or toasty stack of pancakes; stay for the many (tasteful) close-up shots of abs. There is even a whole small-town-crime subplot, if you need a little edge to your Christmastime fare.<\/p>\n

Safe bet: Meet Me Next Christmas<\/em><\/h2>\n

Starring:<\/strong> Christina Milian, Devale Ellis, Kofi Siriboe, and all of Pentatonix(?)
The plot:<\/strong> Layla (Christina Milian) meets James (Kofi Siriboe) at an airport lounge and becomes convinced he is the man of her dreams. They make a pact to meet, for some reason, at a Pentatonix concert one year from then, on Christmas. But when the day actually comes, Layla cannot seem to secure a ticket to said concert. Cue a whirlwind search across New York City.
The verdict:<\/strong> I have missed Christina Milian since becoming obsessed with her \u201cDip It Low\u201d music video circa 2004, so it was a thrill to see her on the big screen again. The snowy New York City setting is fun, even if you can clearly tell it was filmed in Toronto. The Pentatonix soundtrack\u2014and, like, lots<\/em> of screen time from the band members, who are basically costars of the film\u2014is both a vibe and totally absurd. (The film paints the Pentatonix concert as the hardest-to-get ticket in town; do with that information as you will.) Still, the main men are hot and the fashions are festive. Definitely add it to your watch list\u2014especially for the scene in the drag club, where we get a Priyanka cameo. You betta werk!<\/em><\/p>\n

Worst: The Merry Gentleman<\/em><\/h2>\n

Starring:<\/strong> Britt Robertson, Chad Michael Murray, Marla Sokoloff, and Beth Broderick
The plot:<\/strong> Ashley (Britt Robertson) is a big-shot Broadway dancer who gets fired from her show. Needing a break from the city, she travels back home for Christmas, only to learn her parents\u2019 small-town nightclub is in financial ruin. To save it from closing down, she begins staging an all-male, Christmas-themed revue\u2014and, naturally, she casts a local carpenter (Chad Michael Murray) with whom she eventually falls in love.
The verdict:<\/strong> The shirtless hunk is a classic Christmas trope, but this movie takes that to an extreme. While in Hot Frosty<\/em> all the abs felt campy, here they seem like a cash grab. Also, where is Ashley finding all these hot men willing to dance? Why is everyone in this small town as ripped as, like, Chris Hemsworth? And why is the bar only pandering to straight cis women in order to stay afloat? Where are the gays<\/em>? Not very inclusive, I say. I won\u2019t even get into the zero chemistry between the two leading stars. Feel free to skip it. (I did, however, enjoy Beth Broderick as the mom character\u2014paging all Sabrina the Teenage Witch<\/em> fans.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
