Back in my youth\u2014a.k.a. the late 1990s\u2014I was obsessed with all things fantasy: fairies, unicorns, Lisa Frank illustrations, celestial bedroom decor, you name it. At that same time, my favorite nail polish was an opalescent, iridescent shade befitting that dreamy aesthetic, and now Selena Gomez is wearing the grown-up version of my childhood manicure.<\/p>\n

Gomez’s entire look for the 2025 Rare Impact Fund Benefit would’ve been on my 1998 moodboard for sure, starting with her glassy, glowing iridescent manicure. (The curled-under bob, light brown lipstick, and lavender-pink minidress are equally enchanting.)<\/p>\n

Gomez’s \u201cblush jelly chrome nails\u201d were the work of her go-to nail artist Tom Bachik, who used Olive & June products to bring the \u201890s-inspired set to life for the event. He prepped Gomez\u2019s nails with\u00a0Olive & June’s Nail Strengthener, then applied the brand’s new Builder Gel\u00a0in the sheer rose pink shade Blush Jelly as the base color, sealing it with top coat before applying his Cosmic Chrome nail powder in the pink-to-blue hue Aurora, which Bachik said was \u201cthe perfect way to make this ’90s glam look modern.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gomez’s nails were a medium length in a soft almond shape, with the sheer pink color looking nearly translucent in one light, fully glassy and shiny in another, and pastel in another. (That’s the magic of chrome!) They’re subtle enough to be classified as a neutral but feel a little more special than a simply milky pink.<\/p>\n

The Only Murders in the Building<\/em> star has embraced the iridescent look recently, most notably for her September wedding to now-husband Benny Blanco. To walk down the aisle, she wore an angelic sheer white manicure topped with Bachik’s chrome powder in the aptly named Angel, an ethereal white chrome.<\/p>\n

My childhood self would have coveted<\/em> this manicure, and while there’s a lot I miss about growing up in the ’90s, one great thing about being a grown-up is that I can see these nails on my Instagram feed, double-tap the pic, and head to the nail salon to get the look myself!<\/p>\n
