    In the world of beauty buzzwords, “clean,” “green,” “natural,” “sulfate-free,” and more are tossed around…a lot. <\/em>But not every brand actually <\/em>puts in the work to support their claims. True Botanicals, however, is a brand that prioritizes this, often coming up in conversations for its ingredient-conscious products that are still highly effective.\n<\/p>\n

    When Hillary Peterson founded the brand in 2014, her goal was to create good-for-you skincare that didn’t skimp on performance after battling thyroid cancer. True Botanicals prides itself on using potent, plant-based actives and antioxidants, such as chebula, to hydrate and invigorate the skin. Since its launch over ten years ago, the brand has grown into a comprehensive skincare line offering a wide range of products, including serums, cleansers, moisturizers, and body care. Many of these are also popular among expectant mothers for their pregnancy-safe options.\n<\/p>\n

    I’d dabbled in a few of the brand’s products in the past, but decided to put its best-sellers to the test to see how they stacked up to the hype. Ahead, see my thoughts on 10 of True Botanicals’ newest and most popular skin and body products.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Most True Botanicals products promise a sensorial experience, with naturally derived ingredients that have a spa-like scent. Transparently, I love a fragrance journey with my beauty products, but usually not with moisturizer. Thus, I was skeptical about whether I’d like this formula, which has two potent ingredients\u2014ginger and turmeric.\n<\/p>\n

    This gel-based formula promises lasting hydration and glow, with additional ingredients including green tea extract, jojoba seed oil, and milk thistle. It has a quick-absorbing, gel-like texture that massages nicely into the skin with no stickiness. My face felt instantly supple and hydrated, and I loved the result. As I mentioned, it has a strong, floral, almost spicy scent with notes of ginger and neroli. It isn’t as subtle or quick-fading as I prefer, but if fragrance in your moisturizer isn’t a major concern, this one is a nice option.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    Also part of the Ginger Turmeric line is this cleansing balm, which is one of my favorite True Botanicals products I’ve tried. It’s a dual-phase blend of oils and butters (including oat and mango), but it’s also formulated with lactic and azelaic acids to gently exfoliate the skin while breaking down makeup.\n<\/p>\n

    I used this on everything from a full face of makeup (foundation, lashes, lipstick) to sunscreen, and I love how it gets everything off without stripping my skin. Its scent is similar to the Ginger Turmeric Moisturizer, but I find this one a lot more subtle and soothing to breathe in when removing my makeup.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    The scent of this cream was much more bearable for me than with the ginger turmeric moisturizer, plus the formula was a bit lighter. The feel of this is breathable but buttery-smooth: It absorbs into the skin nicely and feels really hydrating on my combination skin. It’s packed with lipids and butters that are like a hug for your complexion. While you can use it day or night, I enjoyed it best as part of my nighttime routine.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    Do not underestimate the word “extreme” here. This is one of True Botanicals’ thickest, most hydrating formulas, depositing plump, cushiony nourishment complete with chebula, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C. The whipped texture requires some massaging, but it made my skin feel really moisturized. It may be too heavy for daily use in the warmer months, but I’ll keep it close to my vanity as fall and winter approach.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    I found the Chebula Active Serum to be a nice step below the Extreme Cream in terms of hydration. It still delivers the soothing, antioxidant-rich benefits of chebula, elderberry, echinacea, and hyaluronic acid, but in a lightweight serum format. The formula also includes aloe vera and has a calming effect that my skin loved.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    I am always <\/em>tired and deeply appreciate a good eye patch. These hydrogel eye patches (which come in a pack of 25 pairs) are infused with chebula and caffeine extracts to perk up the under-eye area.\n<\/p>\n

    I left this one on for 15 minutes and went over it with the cool setting on my Therabody Theraface Depuffing Wand to enhance the soothing benefits. You can use any cooling wand you have, but given how relaxing this feels on its own, you might not even need it. Additionally, these are 100 percent biodegradable and dissolve under warm water.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    How many oils make up this cult-favorite formula? 14, to be exact, including chia seed, papaya seed, and kiwi seed oils. In other words, it’s a superfood for your face. It has the feel to back it up, too: A few drops made my skin feel supple, plump, and glowy. It’s non-greasy, too, and I didn’t go to bed feeling like my face would stick to my pillow.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    This is one of the more recent True Botanicals products I’ve tried, and it turned out to be one of my favorites I tested for this story. The orange balm is super soothing and moisturizing thanks to calendula, eucalyptus, shea butter, and mango seed butter, making it suitable for use anywher<\/em>e. My skin is extremely dry, and I loved how this product felt on my elbows, cuticles, and even over my tattoos. It’s quick-absorbing and not too greasy, so I wasn’t paranoid about the oils staining my clothing.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    This hand cream drastically decreased my skin’s dryness over a few weeks of use. It features the brand’s star ingredient, chebula, as well as niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate and rejuvenate even the driest complexions. Unlike other hand creams I’ve used recently, this one isn’t overly greasy, plus it has a rosy, floral scent that I really enjoy.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    I love a thick, buttery lip balm, and this one has been such a nice upgrade to my nighttime skincare routine. Its silky formula features plant oils and fatty acids, such as castor oil and raspberry seed oil\u2014the latter gives it a pinkish tint that I honestly love during the day, too. A few swipes of this before bed not only makes me feel cute and put-together, but ensures that my lips feel super smooth and soft when I wake up.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
