CNCPTS is gearing up to release its first New Balance 997 collaboration in years. The Boston retailer, which had a memorable run of monotone 997s in the mid-2010s, is preparing to launch a new style dubbed the \u201cMontage\u201d in the near future. Coinciding with CNCPTS\u2019 seeding, the shop has come out with an official commercial.<\/p>\n

The spot stars social media personalities @jayguapo65 and @jayyburt1 in a back-and-forth over borrowed clothes, capped by the line, \u201cthe only thing fire is the shoes.\u201d Sharp-eyed viewers will notice a cameo from the beloved New Balance 997 \u201cRos\u00e9\u201d from 2014. CNCPTS has a strong body of work on the New Balance 997, led by standouts like the \u201cRos\u00e9,\u201d \u201cLuxury Goods,\u201d and the \u201cNew York\u201d aka \u201cMint\u201d from the 2016 rivalry pack (which also included a Boston-themed 998).<\/p>\n

Rather than rehash its past icons, the \u201cMontage\u201d deliberately breaks from CNCPTS\u2019 tonal playbook by leaning into the creative tension of the mid 2010s. A pre-distressed midsole and exposed foam tongue set the tone, paired with a black scribbled forefoot accent and red \u201cCNCPTS\u201d mark on the backtab. The rest of the build brings together a perforated grey suede toe box, black tongue and heel, semi-translucent N logos, and yellow and pink accents near the forefoot and rear, respectively.<\/p>\n

No concrete release date for the CNCPTS x New Balance 997 \u201cMontage\u201d has been announced yet, but we\u2019re expecting a December 2025 drop. See detailed images below and stay tuned for more info.<\/p>\n
