Suki Waterhouse knows boho hair. The model and actress has a signature style that just works, defined by a breezy texture and curtain bangs that countless women have attempted to emulate. So, exactly how does she ensure her hair always looks so effortlessly tousled and\u2026 well, cool?<\/p>\n

Suki reveals her hair secrets to Vogue<\/em>, below.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the secret to your signature haircut?<\/h2>\n

My whole hair life has always revolved around bangs, a lot of teasing, and that<\/em> \u201960s hairdo. From the very first moment that I started going out and doing my hair, that [style] appealed to me so much. I\u2019ve sometimes left it behind, and I\u2019ve definitely had better fringe haircuts in different periods (and some very disastrous ones)\u2014but I think that the shaggy fringe haircut has probably been my hero haircut, and it\u2019s the one I\u2019ve got at the moment!<\/p>\n

Who are your fabulous hair icons?<\/h2>\n

I was always looking at Sam Haskins\u2019s images, as well as Bardot haircuts. Plus Marianne Faithfull, Anita Pallenberg, and Pattie Boyd\u2014the kind of hair that they had, that\u2019s my aspirational hair. I would love to be running around all the time with a perfect \u201960s coiffed hairstyle. I can also be quite chaotic, and days when I am almost allergic to a hairbrush (because I can\u2019t find one) have played a part in my effortless, shaggy look.<\/p>\n

Would you ever change up your hair inspiration?<\/h2>\n

Two weeks ago, I went to my boyfriend\u2019s premiere [Robert Pattinson, for Die My Love<\/em>] and it was honestly one of the first times I\u2019ve ever put my hair up! Someone told me a long time ago that I didn\u2019t\u2014I\u2019m getting deep now\u2014look pretty with my hair up, and it really stuck with me.<\/p>\n

I had this big, kind of emotional hair moment where I decided that it would look really good with the dress, and everyone was like, \u201cCome on, you can do it!\u201d And I was like, \u201cWhat if it\u2019s awful?\u201d In the end, I really enjoyed having my hair up. So I do feel like there\u2019s a new, slightly more modern, sleek [style] coming my way, and I\u2019m quite excited for it!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

What are your non-negotiables when it comes to styling?<\/h2>\n

I read this in a Lucinda Williams biography and started implementing it in my own life: \u201cDon\u2019t wash your hair [before having it styled] and let it just be really flat and straight.\u201d<\/p>\n

I also want someone that I trust to do my hair. I have my angels in London, New York, and LA. I\u2019m actually getting my hair done right now! I\u2019ve got Linne\u0301a doing my hair, and she\u2019s the best.<\/p>\n

Where do you like to go for a haircut, and what do you ask for when you\u2019re in the salon chair?<\/h2>\n

When it comes to my favorite salons, it\u2019s all about building that trust. I really love my friend Georgia May [Jagger\u2019s] salon in London called Bleach. They also have a salon in LA now. Georgia is one of my hair icons, and she\u2019s always got different colors and cuts going on. It always looks healthy and just generally amazing. I also really love The Hair Bros, who are so trusted by me and fabulous.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The cut that I\u2019ve got now is a blunt \u201960s cut. I did a small role in the Marianne Faithfull documentary recently\u2026 I just thought, \u201cI can\u2019t do it without having her haircut.\u201d I\u2019ve really enjoyed it!<\/p>\n

With my color, I make sure that it\u2019s not done in a way that means if it grows out, I\u2019m going to be in trouble\u2014so I keep a darker root. We don\u2019t do balayage either; we do very fine highlights. I keep it pretty low-maintenance\u2014I find it so difficult to regularly get my hair done due to time constraints, so these elements are really important.<\/p>\n

Have you made any terrible hairstyling mistakes?<\/h2>\n

Yes, for sure! There\u2019s a crazy picture of me, from when I went to the Evening Standard [Theatre] Awards one year\u2014I really shouldn\u2019t even be saying it because I don\u2019t want anyone to Google it\u2014I have these two sort of, like, balls on my head\u2026 I don\u2019t even know what they are! I tried to do something a bit different. It was just really bad.<\/p>\n

Then, another time, I was playing Kitty Bennet and I went brunette. They wanted me to have a bunch of extensions, and I was told by the hairdresser, \u201cDo not touch these, I\u2019m going to cut them properly tomorrow.\u201d I sort of had a meltdown at home and got some kitchen scissors and cut them! Then I went out afterwards, and there are some pictures of that on the internet\u2026 it looked absolutely insane.<\/p>\n

What are your fail-safe hairstyling products?<\/h2>\n

I have to have the Authentic Beauty Concept Light Cream Mask with me. And I bring my own shampoo and conditioner everywhere\u00a0\u2013\u00a0that can really make all the difference.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m obsessed with the Shaping Cream. Everybody I know is honestly wildly obsessed with the shaping cream. When my hair\u2019s a little bit dirtier, and I just want to scrape it back to go and run around and do errands, I would say it\u2019s the Solid Pomade.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
