\n\tThe Louisville rapper delivered the sequel to his 2020 Sweet Action<\/em> EP, which featured his breakout hit \u201cWhat\u2019s Poppin,\u201d on Friday (Nov. 6). However, this time around, he\u2019s focusing less on braggadocious raps and more on the ladies as this project takes a more smoother tone. That\u2019s immediately apparent with the lead single \u201cToo Soon\u201d featuring the legendary Babyface. <\/p>\n

Sweet Action II <\/em>is seven tracks long and comes eight months after his divisive Monica<\/em> album, on which he switched up his wardrobe and aesthetic while leaning into neo soul. The album dropped March 13, on his 28th birthday.<\/p>\n

\n\tThere\u2019s less singing on this go-round, but some of the same themes surrounding love, relationships and maturity are still there as he deals with navigating the things that come with success, fame and romance at such a young age.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAcross its seven tracks, Sweet Action II<\/em> finds Jack exploring the messy contradictions of modern romance, from new attraction and old attachments to jealousy and commitment,\u201d read the press release for the set. \u201cBlending sharp humor, conversational storytelling and vulnerability, the EP captures the tension between wanting love and holding on to freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe project features samples and interpolations that reference R&B acts such as Marques Houston, Lalah Hathaway, Peter Collins, Tank, Huey and Ideal. Producers Hollywood Cole, Angel Lopez, Jenius, Kid Culture, Aksel Arvid, Clay Harlow and Rog\u00e9t Chahayed helped bring Jack\u2019s vision to life.<\/p>\n
