The researcher, Derik Kauffman, says you can still type the words on the blocklist one letter at a time. But they won\u2019t pop up as predictive text suggestions and iOS\u2019s keyboard may automatically alter them when swipe-typing, like changing \u201cleft wing conspiracy\u201d to \u201cleft wrong conspiracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Kauffman <a href=\"https:\/\/swipeblocked.com\/\">posted the full list online<\/a>, including the individual lists for different languages.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Most of the words and phrases on the list are offensive, slurs, or related to topics like sex and drugs. But it also contains political phrases like \u201cillegal immigrant,\u201d \u201cdictator Trump,\u201d \u201csleepy Joe,\u201d \u201ccovid was a hoax,\u201d and \u201cleft wing conspiracy\u201d as well as some less controversial phrases like \u201cSanta isn\u2019t real\u201d and \u201ciMessage isn\u2019t working.\u201d Kauffman found some discrepancies on the list, too, where one phrase is blocked while its counterpart isn\u2019t, such as blocking \u201cbad girl\u201d but not \u201cbad boy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">According to <em>Reuters<\/em>, Kauffman used OpenAI\u2019s Codex and Anthropic\u2019s Claude Code to help find the list \u201cdeep in the bowels\u201d of iOS. On his website, Kauffman says the phrase list was stored as a hash table, which he was able to convert back to text. Another researcher told <em>Reuters<\/em> they were able to independently obtain the same list. Apple told <em>Reuters<\/em> that its keyboard is designed to avoid potentially inappropriate or offensive suggestions, but iPhone users can still type in what they want, or override predictive text suggestions. \u201cApple did not immediately respond to <em>The Verge<\/em>\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tly2fw0\"><span class=\"tly2fw2\"><strong>Follow topics and
