Driving onto the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Puerto Rico<\/a> was unlike arriving at any other destination. As someone who hadn\u2019t spent time in the Caribbean, let alone Puerto Rico, I had no idea what to expect. But from the moment I landed on the resort\u2019s sprawling 483-acre coastal property \u2014 just a half hour drive east of Luis Mu\u00f1oz Mar\u00edn International Airport in San Juan \u2014 I was transported into what can only be described as a hidden natural paradise.<\/p>\n

Finding the lobby was a journey in itself. The property unfolds across a two mile stretch of sand beach and a designated nature reserve, with the breathtaking El Yunque National Rainforest visible in the distance. As we wound through miles of scenic paths toward the lobby, or Casa Grande as the hotel calls it, we passed beautiful Flamboyan trees in full bloom, their vibrant orange and red petals a symbol of Puerto Rican culture. This would be the first of many nature moments to come over the next four days that wouldn\u2019t just be highlights, but a defining part of the stay itself. <\/p>\n

More than half the land is a protected sanctuary for wildlife and tropical birds, spanning two certified habitats \u2014 including the 18-hole Bah\u00eda Beach Golf Club, a Silver Signature Sanctuary through Audubon International, one of only a few in the world and the only one in the Caribbean. (Pro athletes like LeBron James can be spotted golfing here during the offseason \u2014 and I quickly understood why). By the time I stepped out onto the wooden planks leading up to the lobby, I already knew I\u2019d never want to leave. <\/p>\n

The Accommodations<\/h2>\n

I expected to be part of a group, as typical for these types of press trips, but it turned out to be just me and one other editor \u2014 a pleasant surprise that only added to how private the overall experience felt. We each had our own Oceanfront One-Bedroom Suite, walking in to find a handwritten welcome note, a beautifully plated sweet treat under a glass cloche, chilled white wine, and a Four Seasons water bottle, custom embroidered hat and robe waiting for us. <\/p>\n

The suite was light and airy with a picturesque view of the gardens, and beyond them, the Atlantic which instantly helped me switch into vacation mode with one glance. Both the bedroom and living room opened onto the ground floor patio, where I sat and enjoyed an iced oat latte each morning, which helped get me out of the famously plush Four Seasons\u2019 mattress<\/a> (it definitely lived up to its hype, by the way). <\/p>\n

The room also included a walk-in closet, two full bathrooms, and a large living space. The primary bathroom was the real showstopper, though: a marble double vanity stocked with Diptyque products, a massive soaking tub \u2014 which I took full advantage of \u2014 and a rainfall shower that felt more spacious than my New York City apartment. Even the small details were already thought of: the room came with a toothbrush and toothpaste, its own Dyson hair dryer, and a wet bar equipped with espresso next to the mini fridge. <\/p>\n
