On the red carpet at her fourth annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit event at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (Oct. 14), Selena Gomez talked to Extra<\/em> about how she marked her one-year anniversary with husband producer Benny Blanco, 38, last month.<\/p>\n

\n\tSaying the low-key celebration was \u201cso sweet,\u201d Gomez, 34, said the couple \u201cactually just ate a piece of cake and watched videos in our pajamas.\u201d When asked what videos they watched, Gomez smiled, \u201cThe wedding videos! We\u2019re so cheesy.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe couple made it official on Sept. 27 last year in Santa Barbara, Calif. after two years of dating and on their anniversary this year Blanco posted a photo on Instagram of the traditional set-aside piece of wedding cake sitting on a pink plate with the phrase \u201cLOVE IS LOVE\u201d on it.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYear old cake never tasted so good,\u201d Blanco wrote in the caption, sharing another photo on his Story from the couple\u2019s wedding ceremony, writing, \u201c1 year down\u2026 forever to go\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBlanco was unfamiliar with the cake-saving tradition until Gomez\u2019s grandmother alerted him to it and he was totally down, except the piece they had on reserve had a few bites taken out of it already. You see, instead of one of those huge, multitiered wedding cakes, the couple decided to go for a small cake.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe only problem was that Gomez\u2019s Only Murders in the Building<\/em> co-star Martin Short thought it was a prop and he tucked into it on the sly. \u201cHe just ate it with his hand, and they had to put it back together,\u201d Blanco revealed while co-hosting Today with Jenna & Sheinelle<\/em> last month. So, instead of savoring the cake on their one-year anniversary, they only had six slices left this year.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI hope you only have to eat it for the first year,\u201d Blanco said. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be eating this thing on year six. I didn\u2019t even wrap it correctly. It\u2019s probably furry now.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tWednesday night\u2019s Rare Impact Fund benefit in support of increasing access to youth mental health services and education was hosted by Gomez and emceed by actor\/comedian Sean Hayes and featured performances from Leon Bridges and Bella Kay.<\/p>\n
