The new launcher is releasing in preview today, and for the first time on Linux, and while <em>Fortnite<\/em> isn\u2019t available there just yet, Epic wants to make that a reality.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">So far, part of the reason <em>Fortnite<\/em> hasn\u2019t been available on Linux is concerns about cheating. While Epic\u2019s Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) service does support Linux, <em>Fortnite<\/em> itself does not, and in February 2022, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TimSweeneyEpic\/status\/1490565925648715781\">said that<\/a> for <em>Fortnite<\/em>, \u201cWe don\u2019t have confidence that we\u2019d be able to combat cheating at scale under a wide array of kernel configurations.\u201d But now, Epic says it\u2019s planning to rebuild EAC for Linux, which it is calling EAC Linux v2.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">\u201cTo bring <em>Fortnite<\/em> to Linux, we are rebuilding Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) and working with distro maintainers on security requirements,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/store.epicgames.com\/news\/epic-games-launcher-preview\">Epic says in a blog post<\/a>. \u201cOnce it\u2019s working with a critical mass of distro maintainers, we\u2019ll bring <em>Fortnite<\/em> to Linux via the Epic Games Launcher.
