\n\tWhen Chari and Marcus Ladden Jr. decided to contest NBC\u2018s The Voice<\/em>, they sure did come to the right place.<\/p>\n

\n\tChari, a surgical technologist by day, bagged a perfect four-chair turn in the Blind Auditions with a performance of Oleta Adams \u201cGet Here.\u201d The 31-year-old Atlanta singer went on to join Queen Latifah\u2019s team. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tLadden turned up the feels for his audition, hitting Julie London\u2019s \u201cCry Me a River,\u201d and earning himself turns from Queen and Kelly Clarkson.\u00a0The 19-year-old hopeful is also from Atlanta, he attended the same school as Chari, and went with Team Queen. Both are impressive talents, too.<\/p>\n

\n\tWith the Battle Round underway, Chari and Ladden went head-to-head with Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald\u2019s \u201cOn My Own,\u201d a Billboard Hot 100 leader in 1986.<\/p>\n

\n\tProgress in the competition awaits the winner, exit for the loser. If that wasn\u2019t enough pressure, LaBelle herself was on board as the Battle Advisor to Latifah.<\/p>\n

\n\tChari and Marcus went at it with style and class. \u201cWell, that was \u2018On My Own\u2019 but y\u2019all sound pretty good together,\u201d quipped Riley Green. It was a joke there for the taking, and the country artist and judge got in first. \u201cI loved every second of that. Y\u2019alls vocals are unreal. That was an awesome performance.\u201d Queen, he said as he looked at her, \u201cgood luck. I don\u2019t know how you\u2019re going to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKelly Clarkson remarked that Marcus\u2019 tone was \u201cgorgeous\u201d and \u201cfills the room,\u201d with runs that were \u201ccrazy beautiful.\u201d Chari, well, Clarkson has been in love with her vocals since the Blinds. \u201cIt seems effortless from you.\u201d Both are \u201cgifted vocalists,\u201d she enthused. They crushed the song.<\/p>\n

\n\tLike all his rival coaches, Adam Levine turned for Chari. \u201cIn a way, it\u2019s no surprise,\u201d he said of her elite effort in this knockout phase. Marcus, however, showed a lot of grit and guts for a lad who was not expected to triumph. He stepped up to the challenge and \u201cdid an amazing job,\u201d the Maroon 5 frontman noted.<\/p>\n

\n\tLatifah had a difficult decision to make. \u201cI thought it was incredible. I\u2019m so proud of both of you,\u201d she explained. \u201cYou have done a phenomenal job.\u201d The teen reminded Queen of Jeffrey Osborne, Latifah added, while Chari did \u201can extraordinary job\u201d of making the song her own.<\/p>\n

\n\tUltimately, Latifah went with Chari. But that wasn\u2019t the end of the line for Ladden, who earned a lifeline when Clarkson used her steal. Everyone wins.<\/p>\n

The Voice<\/em> is currently celebrating its 30th season, with episodes airing Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, streaming next day on Peacock.<\/p>\n
