This is the Fiat Multiplay, a\u2026 play on the Italian company’s classic Multipla nameplate that rolls up three different cars into one fun little concept.<\/p>\n

So, for about the size of a Volvo XC40<\/a> or Nissan Leaf<\/a>, you get an MPV (yay!), an SUV (nay!), and a pickup truck (wahey?) all contained within the bones of one chassis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Perhaps mercifully, you won\u2019t be able to buy anything like this \u2013 it\u2019s not a \u201cpreview of a specific production model\u201d, largely because one suspects attempting to produce something like this would be ruinously expensive and\u2026 yeah.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s all hinged \u2013 perhaps quite literally \u2013 around that changeable C-pillar which Fiat cornily calls \u2018metamorfosi\u2019. The rear slides back and forth to go from \u201cenclosed family vehicle\u201d to a pickup \u201cin just a few moments\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In full-on family MPV\/SUV mode, there\u2019s space for up to six people \u2013 just like the original 600 Multipla from 1956 and 1998\u2019s uniquely-styled car \u2013 along with your treasured pet. And we\u2019re assured the third row, which Fiat claims is normally \u201cunusable\u201d in modern family cars, can actually be used by both children and adults.<\/p>\n

The front can morph into a sun lounger for when you\u2019re parked up not doing DIY on the car, and when you do fancy doing some work on your car, you can move the C-pillar and turn it into a four-seater truck.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

There\u2019s a hidden display, soft-touch materials inside, colourways inspired by watermelons because why not, and \u2013 when in truck mode \u2013 the ability to store some bikes up top.<\/p>\n
