Not to be outdone by the reborn Renault 8 Gordini<\/a>, Alpine has come up with its own retrotastic \u2018design concept\u2019 for the Paris Motor Show that reimagines one of its old-school sports cars. And, yeah\u2026 it\u2019s an absolute stunner.<\/p>\n

Welcome to the A310 Vision which, as you may have guessed, is a tribute to the rear-engined, rear-wheel drive Alpine from the 1970s. In fact, it celebrates the original four-cylinder A310\u2019s 55th birthday and the chunkier V6\u2019s 50th.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

We\u2019re told this is all about \u201creinterpreting its spirit through a contemporary, retro-futuristic vision\u201d though, and Alpine has stated very clearly that it won\u2019t be put into production. Shame, because this thing could be an incredible flagship to sit above the new, all-electric A110<\/a>. We\u2019re actually told that it sits on the same Alpine Performance Platform too. Maybe there is hope after all?<\/p>\n

We\u2019d certainly love to see something like this on the road. There’s aluminium bodywork up top featuring flowing lines, muscular arches, \u2018pop-down\u2019 headlights, an S-duct breaking up the bonnet and a split rear wing with a transparent centre. Neat. The black lower section is then all about F1-inspired aero, with lots of chopped sections, flying winglets and a monster diffuser out back. And check out those glorious A-shaped three-spoke wheels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The bubble-shaped cockpit also gives us a bit of a glimpse inside, where we\u2019re told to expect \u201cseats with organic shapes\u201d, \u201cbold colours\u201d and \u201cphysical controls inspired by the world of Hi-Fi\u201d. The latter sounds particularly promising. Here\u2019s hoping Alpine brings plenty of this Vision into its future production cars.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
