business: energy exports and aviation. The disruption extends to Europe, where buyers have had to replace missing gas supplies.<br \/>\n    <\/h2>\n<div class=\"c-article-content c-article-content--business js-article-content\">\n<p>The World Bank expects the six Gulf Cooperation Council economies to shrink by an average of 4.3% this year, as the impact of the Iran war continues to hit the region\u2019s trade and business.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"c-ad u-show-for-mobile-only\">\n<div class=\"c-ad__placeholder\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-ad__placeholder__logo\" src=\"https:\/\/static.euronews.com\/website\/images\/logos\/logo-euronews-stacked-outlined-72x72-grey-9.svg\" width=\"72\" height=\"72\" alt loading=\"lazy\"><span>ADVERTISEMENT<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"c-ad u-show-for-desktop\">\n<div class=\"c-ad__placeholder\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-ad__placeholder__logo\" src=\"https:\/\/static.euronews.com\/website\/images\/logos\/logo-euronews-stacked-outlined-72x72-grey-9.svg\" width=\"72\" height=\"72\" alt loading=\"lazy\"><span>ADVERTISEMENT<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Higher oil prices have not compensated for lower export volumes, which have cut output and government revenues, the bank said in its regional update published on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Middle Eastern crude exports exceeded pre-war levels on 14 days in September, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing provisional Kpler data. Those shipments included oil sent through Hormuz and via alternative routes.<\/p>\n<p>The World Bank\u2019s forecast covers the full year and includes sectors beyond oil.<\/p>\n<p>Some gas shipments are also getting through. Reuters reported on Monday that four vessels carrying Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) had reappeared outside Hormuz around 2\u20133 October.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-widget-related\" data-stories-id data-event=\"widget_related\">\n<div class=\"c-widget-related__title\"><b class=\"c-widget-related__title__text\" lang=\"en\">Related<\/b><\/div>\n<ul class=\"c-widget-related__list\" id=\"abe-article-related-1\">\n<li class=\"c-widget-related__item\">Brent crude tops $105 as Trump weighs resuming &#8216;major combat operations&#8217; in Iran<\/li>\n<li class=\"c-widget-related__item\">Global oil stocks are alarmingly low and could take two years to rebuild, Aramco warns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Italian energy company Edison said on 28 September that QatarEnergy had extended its force majeure notification to early December, saying it could not deliver further scheduled cargoes.<\/p>\n<p>The notice brought the total number of cargoes affected between April and early December to 35, equivalent to about 4.6 billion cubic metres of gas destined for Italy\u2019s Adriatic LNG terminal.<\/p>\n<p>Edison said it had bought replacement supplies and remained able to meet its commitments to customers.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Airlines face weaker demand<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Passenger traffic on Middle Eastern airlines fell 14.6% in August from a year earlier, according to figures published by the International Air Transport Association on 30 September.<\/p>\n<p>The measure accounts for both the number of paying passengers and the distance travelled. Available capacity fell 9.3%, leaving a larger share of seats empty as traffic declined faster.<\/p>\n<p>But regional airlines are taking some passengers whose flights have been cancelled by European and other carriers.<\/p>\n<p>Aviation consultant Omar Hashmi said Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad serve passengers connecting through their hubs as well as visitors to the Gulf.<\/p>\n<div
