According to AGMAI, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/999167\/openai-elite-mathematicians-panel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">newly formed independent advisory group of elite mathematicians<\/a> put together to work on communicating the results responsibly, the release includes solutions to \u201chundreds\u201d of open questions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">The results have been expected for weeks, although until now OpenAI had not provided details about which problems the model had solved or exactly when they would be published. In September, the company <a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/advisory-group-on-mathematics-and-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> its model had \u201cresolved more than 100 long-standing open problems across most areas of mathematics.\u201d The released papers and other details also include some summaries of the model\u2019s reasoning, estimates of the compute used, and stats about the number of problems attempted. OpenAI claims the \u201caverage result\u201d used the equivalent of three hours of ChatGPT Pro thinking.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">AGMAI, or the Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, <a href=\"https:\/\/agmai.org\/general-sep29\/\">published<\/a> its first recommendations in late September, urging AI labs to release mathematical results promptly and through established academic channels where possible, while disclosing details such as the name of the model used, prompts, and compute costs.
