In the fashion world, you\u2019d be hard pressed to find anyone who\u2019s critical of his work \u2013 everyone who attends his shows leaves gushing, in a frenzy over the bags, shoes, silhouettes and soundtrack. Speaking of which, for the Belgian designer\u2019s third ready-to-wear collection, he had the whole room dancing to Britney Spears\u2019 2007 banger \u201cGimme More\u201d. \u201cSorry I\u2019m gonna dance in this seat to this song and no one\u2019s gonna stop me,\u201d wrote influencer Kim Russell on social media, while the A-list front row was visibly bopping along. In an industry made up largely of girls and gays, Britney was always going to be a hit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Since clinching fashion\u2019s top job and becoming Chanel\u2019s creative director a year ago, Blazy\u2019s soundtracks have quickly become a highlight of the entire fashion season. Created by legendary sound director Michel Gaubert, the tracks jump between Kylie Minogue, classical symphonies and <\/span><em><span>The Lord of the Rings<\/span><\/em><span> theme. The music is a perfect metaphor for what Blazy is doing at the house: blending the old with the new, while keeping it light and fun. Luckily for Chanel shoppers, yesterday evening\u2019s show revealed 83 styles of shoe (one for every look). It was the rare but wonderful type of collection where there was something new to dissect in every outfit. So without further ado, let\u2019s get into it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>DUA LIPA WANTED TO DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Naturally, when the world\u2019s most famous fashion house puts on a show, some of the world\u2019s most famous celebrities cross the globe to sit front row. Chanel ambassadors <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/tag\/nicole-kidman\"><span>Nicole Kidman<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/dua-lipa\"><span>Dua Lipa<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/ayo-edebiri\"><span>Ayo Edebiri<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/tag\/alexa-demie\"><span>Alexa Demie<\/span><\/a><span> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/tag\/pedro-pascal\"><span>Pedro Pascal<\/span><\/a><span> were all in attendance, but it was John Malkovich who stole our hearts this season. The actor wore a slouchy, untucked salmon shirt with denim jeans, while carrying an almost ludicrously capacious Chanel shopping bag on his shoulder. \u201cI\u2019m ready to shop!\u201d rapper JT told us in a pre-show interview, which you can watch <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DeIMJycqTPp\/?hl=en\"><span>here<\/span><\/a><span>. As the finale got underway and the holy sermon \u201cIt\u2019s Britney bitch\u201d boomed through the speakers, Dua Lipa had the whole frow dancing. \u201cI got hit with Britney and all of a sudden I was so ready to dance,\u201d the singer confessed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>HERE COME THE GULLS\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Thanks to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/karl-lagerfeld\"><span>Karl Lagerfeld<\/span><\/a><span>, Chanel has a reputation for its impressive sets, consistently transforming Paris\u2019 Grand Palais into something new altogether (a beach, a supermarket, a theatre, a rocket). It\u2019s a tradition that\u2019s been upheld by Blazy; his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/68855\/1\/matthieu-blazy-chanel-ss26-pfw-paris-fashion-week-womens\"><span>first show shot us into outer space<\/span><\/a><span>, then there were the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/69876\/1\/chanel-aw26-matthieu-blazy-butterflies-pfw-paris-fashion-week\"><span>towering multicolour cranes<\/span><\/a><span>, followed by a couture <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/69496\/1\/chanel-ss26-couture-matthieu-blazy-debut-dua-lipa-nicole-kidman-asap-rocky\"><span>mushroom patch<\/span><\/a><span> and sprouting <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/70608\/1\/fellowship-of-chanel-matthieu-blazy-aw26-couture-show-paris-pfw\"><span>beanstalks<\/span><\/a><span>. Today, the historic exhibition hall was overrun by seagulls. Not real birds, but enormous models of them that swung from that ceiling, like an avian baby mobile dangling above a cot. We\u2019ve known Blazy was a fan of the seaside ever since he took us to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/70164\/1\/chanel-cruise-resort-2026-matthieu-blazy-beach-please-biarritz\"><span>Biarritz for his debut Chanel cruise collection<\/span><\/a><span>, and with his SS27 show, he doubled-down on the theme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>A HOT CUP OF COCO\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Honouring the house\u2019s history, Coco Chanel is present in each of Blazy\u2019s collections. This season, he was inspired by a conversation between Coco and the French writer Louise de Vilmorin, who went on to write the designer\u2019s memoirs in the late 1940s. One specific quote stood out to Blazy: \u201cThe child I once was is with me today\u2026 No one is closer to me than she is. She owes me everything, and I owe her what I was able to contribute to my era.\u201d Using this as inspiration, Blazy took us on a trip back to Coco\u2019s childhood during the Edwardian era \u2013 a time when traditional dress was structured and restrictive. Between the soft 1920s silhouettes and dropped waistlines, there were rigid corseted bodices, harking back to an earlier time and a nod to the sort of style that Coco never adopted herself. Rising model Dyanira Hurbuscher opened and closed the show while carrying an important piece of fashion history: Coco Chanel\u2019s own 2.55 bag, borrowed from the Patrimoine archives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>A STAR IS BORN\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>If you need any more proof of Blazy\u2019s global influence, just look at the models he\u2019s catapulted to stardom. Awar Odhiang melted our hearts when she closed his debut show, cheering and twirling in sheer joy. When he cast Bhavitha Mandava in his M\u00e9tiers d\u2019art collection in December 2025, she became the first Indian model to open a Chanel runway, making history and launching her career at the same time. Now he\u2019s done it again, this time with Nigerian It Girl Rachel Ojuromi (who <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/70309\/1\/rachel-ojuromi-lagos-nigeria-africa-fashion-it-girl-viral-instagram\"><span>we interviewed<\/span><\/a><span> earlier this year). If you don\u2019t yet know her by name, you will have seen her viral fit checks, where she films herself turning the streets of Lagos into a runway. In one her videos, she recreated Chanel\u2019s M\u00e9tiers d\u2019art show, which caught Blazy\u2019s attention (he was spotted leaving comments on her post). Next thing you know, she <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DeFtS3_Izqg\/\"><span>left Africa for the first time<\/span><\/a><span> to walk the Chanel show. If the career trajectories of Odhiang and Mandava are anything to go by, we\u2019re about to be seeing a lot more of Ojuromi. It was the rare but wonderful type of collection where there was something new to dissect in every outfit. Today, the historic exhibition hall was overrun by seagulls. Not real birds, but enormous models of them that swung from that ceiling, like an avian baby mobile dangling above a cot. We\u2019ve known Blazy was a fan of the seaside ever since he took us to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/70164\/1\/chanel-cruise-resort-2026-matthieu-blazy-beach-please-biarritz\"><span>Biarritz for his debut Chanel cruise collection<\/span><\/a><span>, and with his SS27 show, he doubled-down on the theme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>A HOT CUP OF COCO\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Honouring the house\u2019s history, Coco Chanel is present in each of Blazy\u2019s collections. This season, he was inspired by a conversation between Coco and the French writer Louise de Vilmorin, who went on to write the designer\u2019s memoirs in the late 1940s. One specific quote stood out to Blazy: \u201cThe child I once was is with me today\u2026 No one is closer to me than she is. She owes me everything, and I owe her what I was able to contribute to my era.\u201d Using this as inspiration, Blazy took us on a trip back to Coco\u2019s childhood during the Edwardian era \u2013 a time when traditional dress was structured and restrictive. Between the soft 1920s silhouettes and dropped waistlines, there were rigid corseted bodices, harking back to an earlier time and a nod to the sort of style that Coco never adopted herself. In one her videos, she recreated Chanel\u2019s M\u00e9tiers d\u2019art show, which caught Blazy\u2019s attention (he was spotted leaving comments on her post).
