first weekend of October.<\/strong> The \u00d6tztal glacier resort is a perennial early-season favorite and traditionally hosts the opening races of the FIS Alpine World Cup season at the end of October on the Rettenbach glacier, making it one of the most closely watched openings in ski racing as well as recreational skiing.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Hintertux, Austria<br \/>\nOctober 2, 2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hintertuxergletscher.at\/en\/information\/currently\/lift-status\">Hintertux<\/a> Glacier is scheduled to open on October 2 after closing in mid-August.<\/strong> The glacier ski area used to open year-round but hot summers have made operations for 365 days of the year impossible and the resort decided a few years ago to is projecting one of the longest seasons on this entire list, with plans to stay open all the way through May 30, 2027 \u2014 a testament to the reliability of its high-altitude terrain in Austria\u2019s Upper Carinthia region.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Schilthorn, Switzerland<br \/>\nOctober 31, 2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Last but not least we have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jungfrau.ch\/de-ch\/jungfrau-ski-region\/muerren-schilthorn\/?srsltid=AU7gw4VFBYtK7-3I2ZjsTJ1p6kzPZc6tn5sLxZ1EbqXpCn1KIy05yMU8\">Schilthorn<\/a> in Switzerland opening on October 31.<\/strong> The ski resort will only be open weekends for the first few weeks before opening seven days a week from November 21, 2026.
