Ruud\u2019s singles match against Francisco Cerundolo.<\/p>\n<p>As it tradition with the Laver Cup, every member of Team World and Team Europe, including team captains Andre Agassi and Yannick Noah, were courtside for the match.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the professionals often jump in to give their fellow players some advice and none more so than Alcaraz, who was very animated on the sidelines.<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz could be heard giving his teammate Ruud some advice during the first set against Cerundolo.<\/p>\n<h2>More Carlos Alcaraz news<\/h2>\n<p><a best player in the world is right now out of Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Alexander Zverev<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis forehand side, try some backhands down the line because he\u2019s not that dangerous when he plays a forehand from that side,\u201d said the Spaniard to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/casper-ruud\">Ruud<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then some drop shots or something, just to make him move a little bit and think you might play the drop shot sometimes. And then when he\u2019s in the net, he\u2019s not that good. It\u2019s not his game. It makes him think a little bit more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\">Alcaraz\u2019s<\/a> advice sounded good, Ruud was unable to capitalise on the world No 2\u2019s words of wisdom. He lost the first set to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Francisco-Cerundolo\">Cerundolo<\/a> in a tie-break in a mammoth set which went 65 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>As for Alcaraz, the Spaniard is set for his first match in a doubles contest alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jakub-mensik\">Jakub Mensik<\/a> as they face <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/alexander-bublik\">Alexander Bublik<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Taylor-Fritz\">Taylor Fritz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz is a huge fan of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Laver-Cup\">Laver Cup<\/a> and this year will be his third appearace in a row in the format first set up by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/roger-federer\">Roger Federer<\/a> back in 2017. He is looking to win the tournament for Team Europe after their defeat at last year\u2019s event.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about his fondness for the team tournament, the Spaniard said: \u201cWe are not used to playing team events. During the whole year we don\u2019t have team events at all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me especially, I love team events, spending time with them, having fun, as you could see the previous year, how much fun I had on the court and off the court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz even opted to play the Laver Cup this year rather than the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Davis-Cup\">Davis Cup<\/a>.
