At <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/london-fashion-week\"><span>London Fashion Week<\/span><\/a><span>, one of that year\u2019s biggest pop culture moments has already been referenced, not once, not twice, but three times: you know you love her, XOXO, <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span>This season, Beijing-born, London-based designer <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/68686\/1\/oscar-ouyang-ss26-london-fashion-week-lfw-designer-debut\"><span>Oscar Ouyang<\/span><\/a><span> showed his latest collection and his third on-schedule runway show. His clothes are preppy \u2013 easily pictured on London\u2019s bright young things, aristocrats and socialites \u2013 and his SS27 show was no exception. Titled <\/span><em><span>Cygnet<\/span><\/em><span>, the collection was all about young people finding their identity (like a baby swan before its feathers turn white), raiding their families\u2019 wardrobes and reinventing what they found. It\u2019s a concept that fits perfectly into the world of <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl <\/span><\/em><span>\u2013 popular, wealthy kids discovering themselves and their place in society. As the models stomped down the runway, including Lily McMenamy (daughter of Kristen) and Lennon Gallagher (son of Liam), quotes from <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl <\/span><\/em><span>blasted through the speakers. Among other songs, Rocha chose a track called \u201cgg\u201d by Russian-Estonian experimental musician Lolina. The original song opens with the line: \u201cThat\u2019s one secret I\u2019ll never tell\u201d, and mentions <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl <\/span><\/em><span>by name later in the lyrics. Then there\u2019s its double-G title. It\u2019s pretty much a song about the series, and Rocha played the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/arca\"><span>Arca<\/span><\/a><span> remix during today\u2019s show. Then there were the clothes. It was a chaotic affair, in the best way possible. Models strutted around the ballroom all at the same time, showing off their slinky camis, pencil skirts and neon shoes. \u201cIt\u2019s my own interpretation of <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl\u2019s <\/span><\/em><span>Kiss on the Lips party, from the first season,\u201d the Portuguese designer explained backstage. \u201cIt\u2019s a deranged version of it, and I\u2019m bringing elements of my own life into it. I could be wearing a ballgown, but then I\u2019m taking the tube and eating crisps on the way home.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Models wore long, blonde wigs \u00e0 la Serena van der Woodsen, along with a series of party dresses that could have been plucked straight from a Jenny Humphrey collection. Lady Gaga\u2019s \u201cPoker Face\u201d played during the presentation \u2013 which coincidentally also featured in <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl <\/span><\/em><span>season two \u2013 mixed in with modern club bangers, such as Slayyyter\u2019s \u201cI\u2019m Actually Kinda Famous\u201d, which Blair and Chuck would no doubt love.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As for why <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl <\/span><\/em><span>has appeared three times during London Fashion Week already, it could be because it speaks to a broader trend. Recently, preppy fashion has been dominating runways across every major fashion city. Take Jonathan Anderson\u2019s Dior, which has been consistently <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/68128\/1\/christian-dior-mens-ss26-jonathan-anderson-paris-fashion-week-pfw-debut-show\"><span>inspired by young aristocrats<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/conner-ives\"><span>Conner Ives\u2019<\/span><\/a><span> New York society girls, or any of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/thom-browne\"><span>Thom Browne\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span> collections, for example. Fashion month is far from over, but who will be the next designer to take inspiration from the upper class? That\u2019s a secret we\u2019ll never tell. At <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/london-fashion-week\"><span>London Fashion Week<\/span><\/a><span>, one of that year\u2019s biggest pop culture moments has already been referenced, not once, not twice, but three times: you know you love her, XOXO, <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span>This season, Beijing-born, London-based designer <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/68686\/1\/oscar-ouyang-ss26-london-fashion-week-lfw-designer-debut\"><span>Oscar Ouyang<\/span><\/a><span> showed his latest collection and his third on-schedule runway show. His clothes are preppy \u2013 easily pictured on London\u2019s bright young things, aristocrats and socialites \u2013 and his SS27 show was no exception. Titled <\/span><em><span>Cygnet<\/span><\/em><span>, the collection was all about young people finding their identity (like a baby swan before its feathers turn white), raiding their families\u2019 wardrobes and reinventing what they found. It\u2019s a concept that fits perfectly into the world of <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl <\/span><\/em><span>\u2013 popular, wealthy kids discovering themselves and their place in society. As the models stomped down the runway, including Lily McMenamy (daughter of Kristen) and Lennon Gallagher (son of Liam), quotes from <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl <\/span><\/em><span>blasted through the speakers. Among other songs, Rocha chose a track called \u201cgg\u201d by Russian-Estonian experimental musician Lolina. The original song opens with the line: \u201cThat\u2019s one secret I\u2019ll never tell\u201d, and mentions <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl <\/span><\/em><span>by name later in the lyrics. Then there\u2019s its double-G title. It\u2019s pretty much a song about the series, and Rocha played the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/arca\"><span>Arca<\/span><\/a><span> remix during today\u2019s show. Then there were the clothes. Models strutted around the ballroom all at the same time, showing off their slinky camis, pencil skirts and neon shoes. \u201cIt\u2019s my own interpretation of <\/span><em><span>Gossip Girl\u2019s <\/span><\/em><span>Kiss on the Lips party, from the first season,\u201d the Portuguese designer explained backstage. \u201cIt\u2019s a deranged version of it, and I\u2019m bringing elements of my own life into it.
