Place this week, luring showgoers to south London to witness the latest crop of design talent. Even rapper <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/music\/article\/64510\/1\/central-cee-autumn-2024-issue-interview\"><span>Central Cee<\/span><\/a><span> made the journey, joined on the front row by Paloma Elsesser, Sabrina Elba and Miquita Oliver. This season, the fashion incubator welcomed back two returning designers, Jacek Gleba and Traiceline Pratt\u2019s GOYAGOMA, and introduced a new name, recent CSM grad M\u00e9 M\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As the newcomer, M\u00e9 M\u00e9 kicked things off. The Cantonese designer caught industry attention earlier this year with their MA graduate collection, and yesterday\u2019s show built upon similar foundations. It\u2019s not hard to identify their designs: just look for the clouds of cigarette smoke (or the stiff white netting they use as an illusion for smoke) while models puff on fake Marlboros. In reality, the collection paid tribute to women of 1980s Hong Kong, frantically dashing around the city. Inspired partly by Pina Bausch and partly by Denton Welch\u2019s 1945 novel <\/span><em><span>In Youth is Pleasure, <\/span><\/em><span>the collection subverted masculinity with delicate chiffon, pastel hues and cascading backless tops. This season, the Bahamas-born designer turned to workwear and the wardrobes of his own parents. Even rapper <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/music\/article\/64510\/1\/central-cee-autumn-2024-issue-interview\"><span>Central Cee<\/span><\/a><span> made the journey, joined on the front row by Paloma Elsesser, Sabrina Elba and Miquita Oliver. This season, the fashion incubator welcomed back two returning designers, Jacek Gleba and Traiceline Pratt\u2019s GOYAGOMA, and introduced a new name, recent CSM grad M\u00e9 M\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As the newcomer, M\u00e9 M\u00e9 kicked things off. The Cantonese designer caught industry attention earlier this year with their MA graduate collection, and yesterday\u2019s show built upon similar foundations. It\u2019s not hard to identify their designs: just look for the clouds of cigarette smoke (or the stiff white netting they use as an illusion for smoke) while models puff on fake Marlboros. In reality, the collection paid tribute to women of 1980s Hong Kong, frantically dashing around the city. This season, the Bahamas-born designer turned to workwear and the wardrobes of his own parents.
