their identities. We forgive them for an unfinished hemline or shoes way too big for the model, one: because they\u2019re new to fashion week chaos, and two: because the pace of the cycle and the demands expected from today\u2019s designers can be crushing. But then there\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/69757\/1\/petra-fagerstrom-diary-of-debut-london-fashion-week-aw26-fw26-lfw-harry-lambert\"><span>Petra Fagerstr\u00f6m<\/span><\/a><span>, the Swedish designer who, yesterday, blew everyone\u2019s expectations out the water.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Opening day two of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/london-fashion-week\"><span>London Fashion Week<\/span><\/a><span>, Fagerstr\u00f6m hosted her debut on-schedule runway at 180 Strand\u2019s NEWGEN show space; the next step after her debut on-schedule presentation last season. However, unlike many debutantes, there wasn\u2019t a loose thread in sight. In fact, Fagerstrom\u2019s debut catwalk was near perfect.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>While last season was all about winter \u2014 specifically, the designer\u2019s ice dancer past \u2014 this season\u2019s collection was titled <\/span><em><span>Swedish Summer <\/span><\/em><span>(Zara Larsson just flinched somewhere). That said, the show was much less <\/span><em><span>Midsommar <\/span><\/em><span>and more <\/span><em><span>Don\u2019t Worry Darling<\/span><\/em><span>. Fagerstr\u00f6m\u2019s goal was to subvert perceptions of femininity \u2013 something she\u2019s been doing since her graduate collection. \u201cI want to create a woman who fractures the ideals of purity, passivity, and cleanliness tied to the image of a \u2018traditional wife,\u201d she <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/66168\/1\/the-standout-csm-grad-coming-for-trad-wives-and-clean-girls\"><span>told us<\/span><\/a><span> last year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"inline-img expandable dev-view-hide\" data-img=\"dea91329-f17b-48e6-b991-b4ca010840d1\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/2000\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1450\/4\/1454488.jpg\" data-img-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\" data-img-aspect-ratio=\"0.67\"><span class=\"has-css-custom-props image-container\" data-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Petra Fagerstr\u00f6m SS27\" class=\"img\" height=\"3000\" src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/786\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1450\/4\/1454488.jpg\" width=\"2002\"><\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"img-caption\"><span class=\"caption\">Petra Fagerstr\u00f6m SS27<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Photography Eric Aydin-Barberini<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>During yesterday\u2019s show, she played with 1940s and 50s silhouettes (a full-skirted hourglass shape adopted by tradwives today), and even offered her own interpretation of Dior\u2019s famous Bar jacket. She also used the opportunity to critique the flatness of AI-generated imagery, incorporating trompe l\u2019oeil prints and garments unnaturally stuck together. In the same way that Florence Pugh\u2019s character begins to question what\u2019s real and what\u2019s not in <\/span><em><span>Don\u2019t Worry Darling,<\/span><\/em><span> the Petra Fagerstr\u00f6m woman is also beginning to glitch. It was a show that cracked open female stereotypes, proving that really, we\u2019re at our best when we \u2018malfunction\u2019 in the eyes of society. We forgive them for an unfinished hemline or shoes way too big for the model, one: because they\u2019re new to fashion week chaos, and two: because the pace of the cycle and the demands expected from today\u2019s designers can be crushing. But then there\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/fashion\/article\/69757\/1\/petra-fagerstrom-diary-of-debut-london-fashion-week-aw26-fw26-lfw-harry-lambert\"><span>Petra Fagerstr\u00f6m<\/span><\/a><span>, the Swedish designer who, yesterday, blew everyone\u2019s expectations out the water.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Opening day two of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/london-fashion-week\"><span>London Fashion Week<\/span><\/a><span>, Fagerstr\u00f6m hosted her debut on-schedule runway at 180 Strand\u2019s NEWGEN show space; the next step after her debut on-schedule presentation last season. However, unlike many debutantes, there wasn\u2019t a loose thread in sight. In fact, Fagerstrom\u2019s debut catwalk was near perfect.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>While last season was all about winter \u2014 specifically, the designer\u2019s ice dancer past \u2014 this season\u2019s collection was titled <\/span><em><span>Swedish Summer <\/span><\/em><span>(Zara Larsson just flinched somewhere). That said, the show was much less <\/span><em><span>Midsommar <\/span><\/em><span>and more <\/span><em><span>Don\u2019t Worry Darling<\/span><\/em><span>. She also used the opportunity to critique the flatness of AI-generated imagery, incorporating trompe l\u2019oeil prints and garments unnaturally stuck together. In the same way that Florence Pugh\u2019s character begins to question what\u2019s real and what\u2019s not in <\/span><em><span>Don\u2019t Worry Darling,<\/span><\/em><span> the Petra Fagerstr\u00f6m woman is also beginning to glitch. It was a show that cracked open female stereotypes, proving that really, we\u2019re at our best when we \u2018malfunction\u2019 in the eyes of society.
