Now’s your chance to buy the whole Holy Trinity in one go

Usually buying a grey car would be a safe move. A decision made with the head rather than the heart. Protect the resale value, and all that. Although, depreciation probably won’t be an issue with these three.

Because yes, at the upcoming Broad Arrow Auctions sale at the Zoute Concours, interested parties will be able to bid on the entire Holy Trinity, all of which are finished in supposedly special shades of grey. Time to raid those piggy banks.

The Porsche 918 Spyder on offer is number 142 of the 918 examples and is apparently the only one in Europe finished in the Paint to Sample ‘Sport Classic Grey’ that was first created for the 2010 911 Sport Classic. Nice.

This particular car was also specced with an ‘Espresso’ Leather to Sample interior (yes, it’s brown) and the €60,000 Weissach Package. The latter saved 40kg by adding magnesium wheels, titanium bolts, lighter brakes and plenty of carbon fibre bits. It also has some decent distance on the clock, having covered just under 12,000 miles since it was delivered in 2015.

The LaFerrari on offer has been reasonably well-driven too, with around 8,100 miles on the clock at the time of cataloguing. That’s also a 2015 car, and is finished in ‘Grigio Ferro Metallizzato’ (essentially shiny grey) with a black roof.

That car had the carbon fibre exterior pack added when new, and also gets matte grey wheels with silver brake calipers. It also has the very practical nose lift fitted – just in case that’s a deal breaker for you – and recently had its high-voltage battery pack completely replaced under warranty after a single cell was found to be overheating. The realities of owning a Holy Trinity hybrid hypercar fully on show, there.

The McLaren P1 has presumably barely had a chance to throw up any faults, because it has only been driven 182 miles in the last 11 years, and has apparently never seen any rain. Heck, its ‘MSO Storm Grey’ paint has never even been washed with water, according to the listing. That’s despite the original owning dropping an extra €50,000 on options.

Of course, all of this does mean that you’ll need quite a bit of cash to pick up all three. The Porsche comes with an estimate of between £2.2m and £2.6m, while the Ferrari might fetch somewhere between £3.4m and £4.3m. The McLaren is actually a relative bargain at £1.2m to £1.6m.

But if the finances won’t stretch to all three, which one would you take ahead of the others?

Usually buying a grey car would be a safe move.
