Nissan will bring a car called \u2018Kicks\u2019 to Europe\u2026 along with another Twingo<\/a>-sized thing called \u2018Pixo\u2019. We\u2019ll see the latter next week.<\/p>\n

The former? Well, it\u2019ll come as a shock that this car falls firmly into the category of \u2018compact crossover\u2019 \u2013 wonder if they\u2019ll ever catch on? \u2013 motivated by Nissan\u2019s \u2018e-power\u2019 hybrid drivetrain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

More importantly for UK PLC, it\u2019ll be built in Nissan\u2019s Sunderland plant, which celebrates 40 years of knocking out Nissans in 2026.<\/p>\n

Kicks, huh. It\u2019s already on sale elsewhere around the world and is currently in its second iteration. We\u2019ve already driven it across the pond, dubbing it a \u2018decently priced youthful crossover\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

E-power, huh. It\u2019ll be the third-gen system launched last year, which pairs an electric motor with a petrol engine. It\u2019s only ever motivated by the e-motor, mind \u2013 the ICE is just an onboard generator either directly powering that motor or recharging the battery. So you don\u2019t ever have to plug it in.<\/p>\n

Though Sunderland will definitely be plugged in. \u201cNissan has been at the heart of British manufacturing for four decades, with Sunderland producing millions of vehicles that supported thousands of skilled jobs and helped establish the North East as a global automotive powerhouse,\u201d said the government\u2019s business secretary Jonathan Reynolds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
