extinction fears as a &#8220;hoax,&#8221; casting himself as the only safeguard the world needs, as Europe and China both call for guardrails on the fast-moving technology.<br \/>\n    <\/h2>\n<div class=\"c-article-content c-article-content--next js-article-content\">\n<p>US President Donald Trump has poured scorn on warnings that artificial intelligence could wipe out humanity, branding the fears a &#8220;hoax&#8221; and rejecting calls from world leaders to rein in the fast-moving technology.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"c-ad u-show-for-mobile-only\">\n<div class=\"c-ad__placeholder\"><img AI, dismissing months of mounting alarm from tech executives, the United Nations and Beijing alike.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am the Hoax Buster, and I&#8217;m right now breaking another Hoax \u2014 that AI is going to take over, consume, and destroy the World, and that Robots will be marching into our Cities, and getting rid of us all!&#8221; he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Trump likened the fears to warnings about climate change, which he has repeatedly dismissed despite scientific evidence, and to the Russia investigations that dogged his first term.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is even wilder than the RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA HOAX, or the Global Warming Scam,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>The 80-year-old insisted the only guardrail AI needed was a &#8220;STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump&#8217;s pushback comes amid growing international alarm over AI that has sent stocks falling. <\/p>\n<p>Anthropic chief Dario Amodei, whose company makes the Claude AI system, opened the floodgates on Saturday when he called on AI companies to slow down. <\/p>\n<p>OpenAI&#8217;s Sam Altman and Elon Musk&#8217;s xAI echoed the warning.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft on Monday published a &#8220;humanist AI code of conduct&#8221; as the concerns grew. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;AI should not exceed human control.
