After playing Anne Hathaway\u2019s daughter in <em>The Idea of You<\/em>, popping up in Sean Baker\u2019s Oscar-winning <em>Anora<\/em>, and taking a bloody turn in <em>Until Dawn<\/em>, she landed her first major television lead in Prime Video\u2019s <em>Sterling Point<\/em>. The dinner is being held at Balthazar, Soho\u2019s perpetually buzzy French brasserie and a New York institution in its own right. Before heading there, Rubin sets the mood: windows open, coffee acquired, music left partially to fate. \u201cI shuffle all my favorite songs and hope for the good ones,\u201d Rubin says.<\/p>\n<p>Her vision for the night\u2019s look is a little more specific. \u201cIt\u2019s always exciting to get to feel sophisticated and classic but still undone and a little unruly,\u201d she says. \u201cThere\u2019s a spirit of spontaneity at a Chanel event.\u201d Her look for the night lands right in that sweet spot: a silky black Chanel slip dress with a plunging neckline and the brand\u2019s classic black-and-white cap-toe slingbacks, worn with her long brunette hair loose rather than overly styled. Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu takes the house\u2019s iconic scent in a richer, more magnetic direction: The first spritz is all juicy lychee and grapefruit, but give it a minute, and rose, jasmine, patchouli, vetiver, and ambery vanilla turn it warmer, edgier, and a little sexier.<\/p>\n<p>Rubin sprays it not just on skin, but through her hair. \u201cI move and touch my hair a lot, so I think it sort of creates a bubble of fragrance around me,\u201d she says. Still, she knows when to stop: \u201cNo more than two to three sprays.
