Pauline Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot has called an early halt to her season, just over a month since she last competed.<\/p>\n
The Frenchwoman won the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift in 2025 but had a disappointing campaign this summer, being far from the level she showed one year earlier.<\/p>\n
She was 14th overall at the end of stage 7 and then was a DNS the following morning, writing on social media that she had become ill.<\/p>\n
Any hopes that she would rebuild and perform well at the end of the season have been dashed with Visma-Lease a Bike confirming on Friday that she was finished for the year.<\/p>\n
Details were sparse, with no explanation for her decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cPauline Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot will not race again this season.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn consultation with the team, it has been decided that Pauline will take the time to rest and recover for the remainder of the season,\u201d the team stated.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe wish Pauline all the best for the weeks ahead and look forward to seeing her back with us next season.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ferrand Pr\u00e9v\u00f4t won Paris-Roubaix in 2025, her first year back focusing on road racing after many years targeting off road competition. She was also second in the Tour of Flanders and third in Strade Bianche Donne but, even so, the quality of her showing in the Tour de France Femmes was unexpected. She dominated the mountain stages at the end of the race and finished a staggering 3:42 ahead of Demi Vollering, her closest rival.<\/p>\n
This year things were quieter. She was 29th in Strade Bianche and while she was second ahead in the Tour of Flanders, she had to be content with third in Paris-Roubaix and seventh in Fl\u00e8che Wallonne.<\/p>\n
She was a distant 35th overall in the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a Femenina and while she and her team said she was in a good place heading into the Tour, eighth on stage one was her best result. She was more than ten minutes off the race lead at the end of stage 7 and then withdrew prior to the next stage.<\/p>\n
Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot didn\u2019t compete after that. Her last post on social media on August 21 stated that she was \u2018enjoying the post TDF period as much as I could with some of my favorite people.\u2019<\/p>\n
Some hoped she would be part of the French team for the road race world championships but she was not named for the squad.<\/p>\n
The reason for the end to her season has not been made clear.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
