Wardogs<\/a>, a new all-out warfare FPS game that has been blowing up on Steam, is officially coming to consoles… but it’ll be a while.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

As part of its launch, the team behind Wardogs, Bulkhead, confirmed that it will bring the massive shooter to consoles. The game is slated to arrive on Xbox and PS5 in 2028, but is available in early access on Steam starting today. The game is launching for $39.99, with plans to increase the price as the game expands. The idea is to reward fans who support the game in its earliest stages and not charge them a full $60\u2013$70 for an unfinished product.<\/p>\n

\u201cWardogs is ambitious, rough around the edges and still has a long way to go, but that is exactly what Early Access should be,\u201d said Joe Brammer, CEO at Bulkhead. \u201cWe\u2019re putting the game in players\u2019 hands, listening to what they tell us and taking the risks needed to turn it into something that can last. More than anything, we want people to get online, talk to each other and have the kind of fun in an FPS that we grew up having.\u201d<\/p>\n

All of this suggests that Wardogs might be targeting 2028 for its 1.0 release, as PlayStation is extremely selective about early access titles on its platform, unlike Xbox. Major titles like Subnautica 2 have had to skip PS5 during early access, but there have been exceptions. However, I wouldn’t hold my breath for Wardogs being one of those exceptions at the moment.<\/p>\n

It’s also interesting that Bulkhead specifically confirmed PS5 as a release platform, since PlayStation 6 is heavily speculated to release next year. Whether the game will also have a native PS6 version remains to be seen, but would presumably be playable on the next-gen console with backward compatibility should that be a supported feature.<\/p>\n

Wardogs is one of the most surprising titles of 2026, as it really only emerged over the summer as marketing began to ramp up. However, the response from players who participated in playtests has been glowing<\/a> and indicates the shooter space may have another big contender going forward.<\/p>\n
